Twenty players, including last year's winner, Sabrina Ionescu of Oregon, were named Monday to the preseason watch list for the Nancy Lieberman Award for point guards.

Marina Mabrey of defending national champion Notre Dame and UConn's Crystal Dangerfield -- both of whom helped lead their teams to the Final Four last season -- also are on the list.

They are joined by (in alphabetical order): Lamar's Chastadie Barrs, Minnesota's Kenisha Bell, DePaul's Kelly Campbell, Texas A&M's Chennedy Carter, Georgia's Taja Cole, Kansas State's Kayla Goth, Ohio State's Carmen Grande, South Carolina's Tyasha Harris, North Carolina's Paris Kea, Saint Francis' Jessica Kovatch, Duke's Kyra Lambert, Colorado's Kennedy Leonard, Maryland's Channise Lewis, Syracuse's Tiana Mangakahia, Charlotte's Laia Raventos, Oregon State's Destiny Slocum and Tennessee's Evina Westbrook.

Mangakahia led Division I in assists per game last season at 9.8. Grande, then with Ball State, was second at 9.2; she transferred to play her senior season with Ohio State.

The Ducks' Ionescu was fourth nationally at 7.8 per game in 2017-18.

The honor, which has been awarded in women's college basketball since the 1999-2000 season, initially launched when Lieberman was coaching the WNBA's Detroit Shock and was sponsored by the Detroit Rotary Club.

In 2014, the Naismith Hall of Fame began sponsoring the Lieberman Award. Then last season, it added four other positional awards for women's basketball to match the five the Hall already sponsored for men's college basketball.

The other positional awards for women, which are also sponsored by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association, are named after Ann Meyers Drysdale (shooting guard), Cheryl Miller (small forward), Katrina McClain (power forward) and Lisa Leslie (center). The watch lists for those awards also will be released this week.

The watch lists for all the awards will be pared down to 10 finalists in February and five in March. The winners will be announced at the Final Four in Tampa, Florida, in April.
