LIVERPOOL, England -- UFC welterweight contender No. 9 Neil Magny beat England's Craig White at UFC Fight Night Liverpool while Arnold Allen and Makwan Amirkhani also claimed victories.

The co-main event between Magny and White started in quick fashion with both attempting to land telling leg kicks, but they soon found themselves wrestling against the side of the cage.

But Magny soon found a way through toward the end of the first round, stopping White with repeated blows to the head as he lay on his back unable to return fire.

"The fight game constantly changes," Magny said after the fight. "Credit to White for taking the fight on short notice and making it happen."

Earlier on, home fighter Molly McCann suffered a shock second-round defeat in her UFC debut to Gillian Robertson.

McCann struggled with Robertson's ground game from the get-go, and the stoppage could have come as early as the end of the first round if it wasn't for the klaxon.

It was more of the same in the second round as Robertson forced the fight back to the floor before eventually emerging victorious, winning via rear naked choke.

In the card's later action, Allen and Mads Burnell fought out a close contest, with the latter winning via submission in the third round.

The contest was an intriguing battle of strength and willpower from the start, with both seemingly keen to keep the fight on the canvas.

It looked destined for the judges scorecards, but Allen managed to maneuver himself into position to front choke Burnell out of the fight.

Before Allen's win, Amirkhani claimed split decision victory over Jason Knight.

Amirkhani was knocked down twice in Round 1 with single punches, but managed to recover and with hurtful striking was able convince the judges over the next two rounds that he was a worthy winner.

Elsewhere, Claudio Silva returned to the Octagon for the first time since his 2014 victory over Leon Edwards. He beat Nordine Taleb via rear naked choke.

Darren Stewart beat Eric Spicely in emphatic style with a brutal second-round TKO stoppage.

Stewart had lost three fights before his win against the American, and he stated after the fight: "I deserve to be here."

Fellow Englishman Tom Breese also returned to winning ways in the UFC for the first time in over two years, leaving his mark yet again with a devastating TKO win against Australia's Daniel Kelly.

Breese jabbed his way through Kelly's high guard before a vicious uppercut helped close the show.

Carlo Pedersoli extended his mixed martial arts record to an impressive 11-1 with a split decision victory over England's Bradley Scott.

Pedersoli, who was making his UFC debut, was dropped in the first by a single punch but he recovered well and displayed some excellent striking himself to claim the win.

There were also wins for Lina Lansberg, who beat Gina Mazany via decision, and Elias Theodorou, who claimed another decision victory over Trevor Smith.
