Marco Cecchinato beat Jiri Vesely 2-6, 7-5, 7-5 to advance to the last eight of the Croatia Open.

Cecchinato enjoyed a difficult Wimbledon before arriving in Croatia, which saw him eliminated in the first round by Alex De Minaur.

Earlier in the day, Dusan Lajovic had an equally grueling victory over tournament No. 5 seed Albert Ramos-Vinolas on the Grandstand court.

The Serbian was made to work for his victory and despite dropping the second set, eventually recorded a 6-3, 6-1, 6-0 victory over Ramos.

Maximilian Marterer had an easier Wednesday afternoon with a straightforward 7-6, 6-3 win over Laslo Dere.

In the final match of the day, Guido Pella came from behind to triumph over Aljaz Bedene 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.
