Kiki Bertens, Julia Goerges win to set up Volvo Car Open final

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands won a third-set tiebreaker to rally past American Madison Keys 6-4, 6-7 (2), 7-6 (5) and reach the finals of the Volvo Car Open on Sunday.

Bertens, the 12th seed, will face fifth-seeded Julia Goerges of Germany, who defeated No. 8 Anastasija Sevastova of Latvia 7-6 (5), 6-3 in the championship later Sunday.

The semifinals were delayed Saturday because of continuing rain at the WTA's first clay-court tournament of the season.

Goerges and Sevastova were tied at 4-all in their opening set before rain halted play for the day. The set resumed Sunday and went to a tiebreaker. After Goerges won that, she won five of the first seven games of the second set to take control. It is the furthest she's advanced in five trips to the Family Circle Tennis Center in Charleston.

Bertens entered the week having won just four matches. She has won five here as she looks for her first title of the season.

Bertens trailed 5-4 in the final set before forcing the tiebreaker.
