There are three South African sides in the Super Rugby quarterfinals this weekend, with at least one of those to drop out.

The table-topping Lions host the Sharks at Ellis Park and are hoping to go one better than their runner-up finish last season. The Stormers have a tough home quarterfinal against the Waikato Chiefs, who thrashed them 60-21 in Cape Town at this stage last season.

KweséESPN brings you all the team news from the three South African franchises ahead of the weekend.

LIONS (VS SHARKS)

Coach Johan Ackermann has kept an unchanged side for the quarterfinal at home to the Sharks, keeping faith with the players who defeated the Durban side 27-10 at King's Park last weekend.

It means flank Jaco Kriel continues as captain, with wing Ruan Combrinck to play his 50th Super Rugby clash.

The Lions are heavy favourites and would need to have a real off day at a ground where they are unbeaten in 13 matches this season, and have scored 199 points in their last three games.

SHARKS (VS LIONS)

Sharks coach Robert du Preez has made a big call at flyhalf and named teenager Curwin Bosch in his run-on side to face the Lions.

Garth April has been wearing the No. 10 jersey in recent weeks, with either Bosch or Lwazi Mvovo at fullback. But Du Preez has opted to go with the Junior Bok star in the cauldron that is Ellis Park.

That is the only change from the team that lost 27-10 to Lions in Durban this past weekend.

On the replacement bench, the fitness of hooker Franco Marais will be assessed late on, with Stephan Coetzee his replacement if he is not able to play.

STORMERS (VS WAIKATO CHIEFS)

Robbie Fleck has made two changes to his Stormers side for the visit of the Chiefs to Newlands on Saturday.

SP Marais is back from injury and takes over at fullback, with Dillyn Leyds moving to the wing and Sevens star Seabelo Senatla onto the bench.

Among the forwards, Rynhardt Elstadt is also back from injury and pushes Sikhumbuzo Notshe onto the replacements bench.

Fleck has kept faith with Junior Bok star Damian Willemse at flyhalf, while the Springbok lock pairing of Pieter-Steph du Toit and Eben Etzebeth could be crucial at set-piece time.
