Sources : Southern Illinois expected to move on from Bryan Mullins

Southern Illinois is expected to move on from head coach Bryan Mullins, sources told ESPN.

The Salukis' season ended Thursday with a loss to Illinois Chicago in the Missouri Valley Conference tournament.

Mullins has been at the helm for five seasons, taking over for Barry Hinson in 2019. He went 86-68 overall during his time in Carbondale, going 49-45 in league play. The Salukis finished 19-13 this season, losing their final two regular games to drop to 11-9 in the Valley.

The bright spot under Mullins came last season, when SIU went 23-10 overall and finished third in the conference. The Salukis were led by Lance Jones, Marcus Domask and Xavier Johnson, who averaged 22.2 points and 6.1 assists this season. Jones (Purdue) and Domask (Illinois), however, transferred after the season and are now starters on top-15 teams.

Mullins played his college ball at Southern Illinois, starting 119 games in four seasons and winning Missouri Valley Defensive Player of the Year twice. He got his coaching start under Porter Moser at Loyola Chicago.
