Travis Ford has been hired as head coach at Saint Louis, according to a St. Louis Post Dispatch report.
On Tuesday night, the university denied it had hired a new coach.
"Saint Louis University has not hired a men's basketball coach," the school said in a statement. "The process is ongoing. Information on an introductory press conference will be sent once a coach is hired."
Ford parted ways with Oklahoma State earlier this month after eight years with the Cowboys.
Oklahoma State went 12-20 this season with Ford at the helm. Overall, he was 155-111 in Stillwater but 55-65 in Big 12 play, including only one upper-division finish in the conference standings. Ford had five 20-win seasons and five NCAA tournament berths but had a 1-5 record in the NCAAs.
Ford had three years and a guaranteed $7.2 million remaining on his contract.
He would replace Jim Crews, who was fired after four seasons with the Billikens.
Crews was 77-56 in four seasons with Saint Louis. He joined the staff as an assistant to Rick Majerus in 2011 and was elevated to interim head coach for the 2012-13 season, when Majerus had to step down for health reasons. Majerus died in December 2012.
This season, the Billikens (11-21) had one senior on their roster, and six of their 10 leading scorers were either freshmen or sophomores.
