U.S. Open updates: Rickie Fowler ends Round 2 back on top

LOS ANGELES -- After a record-setting scoring day in the first round of the 123rd U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club, the world's best golfers were back on the North Course on Friday.

With an early marine layer that once again led to cloudy skies and damp conditions, players, especially those in the morning wave, were prone to low scoring.

Despite the weather, Rickie Fowler managed to break a tie for the top spot with Xander Schauffele to finish the day with the solo lead.
