William Carvalho has joined Real Betis from Sporting Lisbon, the La Liga outfit announced on their website on Friday.
Carvalho, 26, was part of a mass player exodus from Sporting after fans attacked the club's training ground in May following a public rebuke of the team by then president Bruno de Carvalho, who was later voted out of the position by paying members of the Lisbon-based club.
Portugal international Carvalho has agreed to terms with the club on a deal that runs through the 2023 season after having been linked with a move to West Ham during the summer transfer window.
