Liverpool have held 'positive talks' with transfer targets - Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp believes Liverpool is an attractive proposition for players ahead of the summer transfer window and says talks with targets are underway.

Liverpool are on course to secure Champions League football next season, currently sitting in the top four with a handful of matches left to play.

The Liverpool manager says it will be easier to recruit players than previous summers, having been given positive indications from potential signings.

"I think that Liverpool at this moment is a really interesting project for players," Klopp said. "We cannot say 100 percent we will play Champions League football next year. But it's a young team, it's a fantastic club, it's a good situation where we really can see the progress of the team.

"So I would say together with Tottenham, the average age of the team is such that there's still a lot to come. They are obviously a few steps ahead, but they have played longer together maybe.

"We feel in a good way, and if a player wants to be part of this way, then it's easier to make this decision this year than last year.

"But actually not a lot of players told me last year: 'I don't want to be part of this, but let me see what happens next year and then we can talk again.'

"It's more my feeling than anything I could say about what a player thinks. But the talks we've had so far are very positive. That doesn't mean it will all work out, but they are really positive, and they all see the progress. That's good."

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace boss Sam Allardyce is hoping to hold talks with on-loan defender Mamadou Sakho over a permanent deal as soon as his side are safe from relegation.

Sakho moved to Selhurst Park on a temporary deal in January and has since impressed in his seven appearances for the London outfit.

Sources told ESPN FC in December that Liverpool were seeking £20 million for the out-of-favour Sakho as the Reds believed there to be huge demand for central defenders throughout Europe.

That price tag is likely to increase as a result of the defender's impressive performances of late.

"Does Mama want to stay?" Allardyce said. "Has Mama created a market for himself for other clubs, if not in the Premier League, in Europe, because they have monitored his performances with us?

"It is a big decision he has to make. If we stay in the Premier League, we will try our best to sign him.

"I will tell you what might be and what might not be when we get safe."
