Marcus Rashford among Premier League's top fantasy differentials

With Liverpool and Manchester City going up against each other this weekend, their stars are less attractive fantasy-wise.

Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United all have relatively easy fixtures, so their stars should be quite popular.

But sometimes it helps to look outside of the obvious and pick what we like to call "differentials," or players who probably won't be picked by many but are capable of a big performance. They're risky, but could lead to a great reward -- especially if the popular choices fall flat.

Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal)

In case you missed it, Arsenal are on a roll. They've now won eight games in a row in all competitions, and have scored at least two goals every time. They'll be playing away from home this weekend, but at Fulham, who have conceded 16 goals in seven league games. That's level with Cardiff City and Huddersfield Town for the worst defensive record in the league.

Lacazette didn't start the first three league games of the season, but has started the past four, and has two goals and two assists in that time. He's also taken 13 shots in those four games. Teammate and fellow Tier 1 forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has only taken six shots in those games, and missed Thursday's 3-0 Europa League win over Qarabag due to illness (Lacazette came off the bench and got an assist). If Aubameyang is out against Fulham, the Arsenal attack should be even more centered on Lacazette.

Lucas Moura (Tottenham)

Tottenham will host Cardiff City, one of the other teams that have already conceded 16 goals this season. So, loading up on Tottenham attackers makes some sense. But Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli both have been out recently due to injuries.

Moura would be a pretty big gamble as your Tier 1 midfielder, when you can pick Eden Hazard playing against Southampton. The Tottenham attacker has three goals this season, but they all came in August. Still, Moura's getting a shot or two every game, and is certainly capable of scoring a goal or more, especially against a weak team like Cardiff.

Marcus Rashford (Manchester United)

This only applies if Rashford starts, and it's been pretty hard to predict Jose Mourinho's lineups this season. But Rashford is currently the only Tier 2 forward from one of the big six clubs, and it's probably fair to say he's the best player in this tier.

Rashford has only started one league game this season, but he came off the bench and scored a beautiful goal against West Ham last weekend. Then he started in the Champions League game against Valencia on Tuesday -- it was a scoreless draw, but Rashford was very aggressive, taking a team-high six shots. Manchester United are in poor form, but they should dominate at home against Newcastle.

Gylfi Sigurdsson (Everton)

When Leicester City host Everton on Saturday, many fantasy players will have their eyes on the home team's James Maddison. He's been the best Tier 2 midfielder so far this season.

But Sigurdsson may be the better choice this week, even playing away from home. After a slow start again this season with Everton, Sigurdsson has scored three goals in the past three games ... as many as Maddison has since the start of the campaign. He had a brace last week against Fulham, and could have had a hat trick, as he hit the crossbar with a penalty kick. Sigurdsson also took six shots in that game, and has taken 12 shots in the past three games.

Harry Maguire (Leicester City)

I know, he's a center back ... but as I wrote earlier this week, center backs are actually dominating the fantasy points leaderboard when it comes to defenders.

Maguire is the third-ranked defender, and 13th among all outfield players, with 95.3 fantasy points. He does the dirty work and picks up peripheral points, but he also has two goals ... and that's no fluke. Maguire has taken nine shots -- only Chelsea fullback Marcos Alonso has taken more among defenders (14). And he has six shots on target, more than any other defender. Alonso has gone quiet offensively the past couple weeks, and Maguire is a viable alternative as your Tier 1 defender.
