It's been one of the quietest trade seasons in quite some time, but that all changed Friday night. The Oakland Athletics pulled off a blockbuster by trading for arguably two of the three best starting pitchers on the market in Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel.

While Hammel and Samardjiza undoubtedly make the Athletics better in 2014 -- you could argue that they are now prohibitive favorites to win the American League -- they paid a steep cost to acquire the two hurlers, giving up shortstop Addison Russell and outfielder Billy McKinney, along with a player to be named later and Dan Straily. And while this trade makes the Cubs' system even stronger, it does affect the value of Russell and McKinney as fantasy keepers.

Here's a look at what they can do and why both are still fantastic additions for your keeper team.
