Gen.G swept Dignitas 3-0 to take home the Heroes of the Storm Global Championship on Saturday during BlizzCon at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.
It was the anticipated meeting between the top two teams of the group stage, with Gen.G topping Group A and Dignitas leading Group B as the only teams not to suffer a loss.
The collision course seemed inevitable with Gen.G sweeping TheOne 2-0 and then outlasting Team Liquid 3-2 in the semifinals. Meanwhile, Dignitas continued their dominant form with a 2-0 victory over Tempo Storm and a 3-1 win over Miracle to make the final.
The last time Gen.G and Dignitas met in an HGC grand final, the match was decided by the bonus damage. However, this final proved to be somewhat anti-climatic, with Gen.G refusing to relinquish its grip in the best-of-five showdown. In the closest match of the final, the South Koreans defended their core at just 3 percent and raced across the map to secure the victory.
"This exceptional roster that continues to define the highest level of competitive Heroes play!," Heroes Esports tweeted after the match was decided.
