In recent weeks, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player Tarik "tarik" Celik has become a target for MIBR fans.

Fans chided him for not being able to take criticism. He acknowledged that he'd read some of the comments he received on social media, but tried not to focus on them.

ESPN Brazil had a chance to sit down and speak with tarik during the Intel Extreme Masters in Chicago to discuss these developments.

"I go to Twitter and I see people sending messages and s---, saying that I'm bad and should not be on this team, but I do not think about it," said tarik. "I know I'm where I am because I deserve it. I worked hard and all I can do is continue like this."

He went on to explain: "Criticism has been a factor since I started playing professionally. You have to do your best and not let them get to you. If they [do], then you'll be affected."

"Brazilian fans are very proud of their teams. It's one of the things I'm used to, so I don't think they're cursing me or saying I have to get better. When you win, there's praise and support. When we lose, I just try to do my best not to focus on bad things," he added.

After failing to make a splash at the Blast Pro Series and being unable to pass the first phase of IEM Chicago, tarik has been on high alert.

"I think we're going down a difficult road now," he said. "We have some problems that we are still trying to solve and others that have existed since the beginning and we did not pay much attention to. Our focus is on ensuring the resolution of these problems."

"We are not happy with these results and we want to find the solutions because it's taking so long and getting in the way," tarik added.

Tarik also acknowledged that though his individual performance was not at its best, he's managed to adapt to the addition of Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo.

"I think I've done a good job of understanding and becoming part of the [MIBR] system. I know my position. I think what's missing is a bit more initiative. I used to have a lot of that, but lately I've been missing. I'm still not totally comfortable. Anyway, we're doing our best to adapt to the team and I'm sure I can play much better."
