Canadian television broadcaster Super Channel has announced that it's bringing the first 24/7 esports channel to North America via a partnership with UK media company Ginx eSports TV, which already broadcasts esports content in Europe and around the world.

Super Channel announced the deal on its website, indicating a launch in the spring or summer of 2017. Super Channel says the offering will "target millions of gaming enthusiasts and players in Canada and feature live eSports events, news, and gaming lifestyle programming."

While there is no mention of the United States in the news release, Ginx CEO Michiel Bakker stated, "Canada has long been in our sights. It consistently represents a top 10 eSports nation and is home to great esports competitions and competitors."

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Catherine Warren of FanTrust Entertainment Strategies, who helped facilitate the deal, said the station would be "the equivalent of an ESPN fully dedicated to competitive gaming and live eSport tournament coverage."

Terms of the deal between Super Channel and Ginx were not disclosed in the announcement.
