Will Ferrell is bringing his comedy talents to esports. Legendary, Mosaic and Gary Sanchez Productions have teamed up to build an untitled film around the scene. Michael Kvamme and Jordan Dunn are set to write the script.

Ferrell is set to portray a professional gamer in the comedy, which constitutes an anomalous display as players enter the scene as young as 15 and retire from the highest level of competition in their early 20s, on average.

His performance will have similarities with the role he had in "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby" in which he delved into NASCAR. The actor is currently working on "Holmes & Watson" alongside John C. Reilly.

Evil Geniuses and Fnatic are in discussions to participate in the film. Evil Geniuses have been world contenders in Dota 2, notably winning The International 2015 and, more recently, the 2016 autumn edition of the MarsTV Dota 2 League. Fnatic is a multi-game esports organization that is widely known for its teams in Dota 2, League of Legends and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, all of which have been particularly notable over the past two years.
