Fallon Sherrock, who became the first female player to win a match at the PDC World Darts Championship earlier this week, has claimed victory in her second round match at the event.

Sherrock, a former finalist of the women's world championships, produced an 86 checkout, hitting the bullseye with her final shot, to beat world No. 11 Mensur Suljovic 3-1 after coming back from two legs down in the first set.

When asked by Sky Sports whether she believed she could win the event, Sherrock responded: "Why not? I have won two games, I am just going to take each game as it comes but there is nothing to say that I can't. I am going to try.

"I have just proved that we [women] can beat anyone. I have beaten two of the best players in the world. If that doesn't show that women can play darts, I don't know what does."

The 25-year-old made world headlines at the event after beating Ted Evetts 3-2 in the opening round on Tuesday.

"I don't know how I'm going to sleep tonight," Sherrock added.

"I've proved that we [women] can beat anyone -- I've just beaten two of the best players in the world.

"I'm still waiting for it all to sink in."

Sherrock will face world No. 22 Chris Dobey in the third round at London's Alexandra Palace.
