Warrington Phillip awaiting murder trial

Former Leeward Islands spinner Warrington Phillip is awaiting trial accused of the murder of his wife Shermel who was found with her throat cut in her car at her home on Nevis on February 16.

Phillip was arrested on the day his wife's body was found and transported to the prison on St Kitts.

Phillip represented Leeward Islands for a decade, taking 148 wickets at 25.52. He made a return when he represented Nevis in the inaugural Standford 20/20 last year.

  • The only Test cricketer to be hanged for murder was Leslie Hylton from Jamaica who was found guilty of murdering his wife and executed in May 1955.
