4.4 looks back at the ump in brief horror after letting out a roar of celebration. The front foot he was worried about was in fine form, just like this delivery, that reduces Sri Lanka to 2 for 1. Another failure by the opening partnership. It's full, it's fast, it's tempting. Silva doesn't move his front foot forward, or across, enough to handle it. He complicates matters further by flashing away from his body and nicks to Steven Smith at second slip 2/1
14.1 "five times, mate, [Got you] five times!" Starc flashes his fingers at the departing batsman with a grin of pure vindictive glee. It's a good length ball that the batsman decides might be fun driving on the up. He's too early on the shot, there's plenty of gap between bat and front pad and a second later Dimuth throws his head down in disgust 23/3
11.6 you little beauty! Gets some turn, it's quick too because he is bowling at 97 kph. Doesn't allow the batsman to adjust off the pitch. Not least because it is pitched full, and angled in on off stump. Kusal has to play. But he can't reach the pitch of the ball like earlier in the over. Gets an outside edge and Smith does the rest 21/2
16.2 there it is! Perfect line, perfect length, awful shot. Starc keeps on rolling! There is no swing in the, no help off the deck. Just the primal energy that comes with a fast bowler on top of his game. He makes it happen. He puts fear in the heart of the batsman. Makes them play at balls - like this one on a good length, outside off, tempting the drive away from the body - that could easily be left alone because they don't have the time to make sound decisons. That's his 20th wicket in the series 26/5
15.1 taken at long leg! "Oh yeaaaaah" go the Aussies. Bounce does Mathews in as he goes for a sweep! Hands are low, and the wrists roll to try and keep the ball down. But with it having pitched not as full as Mathews expected - not to mention the quicker pace, from the Lyon going through his action a lot more. It kicks up just a tiny bit to take the top edge and Starc runs in from long leg to take a good catch, diving forward. Big strike, Lyon proving he has learnt his lessons 24/4
139.2 got 'im! Reverse swing does Chandimal after a stellar innings. Props for Starc too, running in and bowling as quick and as full as he possibly could. It's outside off, tempting the drive. Chandimal flashes at it, the ball straightens down the line, takes the edge and settles in Nevill's gloves. Good, sharp catch moving to his right 348/8
103.2 reward for persistence outside off. Lovely flight from Lyon, and his line is near perfect. It draws the batsman forward, drifts away, and dips on him whilst he tries to defend. Turns to put him in further trouble, takes the inside edge and a simple forward defensive becomes de Silva's undoing as he nicks to short leg. Walks off to a robust ovation - everyone in the dressing room is up on their feet. End of an outstanding innings. A classy innings 237/6
109.6 straight to long-off. Some relief for Holland, he has a first wicket here . Perera leapt down the track and went through with his loft even through he was nowhere near the pitch. Wonder if he could have cut the ball had he stayed back and made room. Anyway, he was looking for the extra cover boundary, ends up hitting the ball straighter. Simple catch for Lyon 267/7
136.6 wears it high on the thigh - oh perhaps it's a little too high, he's got it on the box - as he attempts a flick. Cutter gets some extra bounce 340/7
141.1 five for Starc, three of them back-to-back! Runs in from around the stumps, squares the batsman up, it's short of a length, pins him to the crease. Gets the outside edge and Marsh dives forward in the gully to take it 355/9

3.6 huuuuge appeal from the wicketkeeper, and he's walking off! Make de Silva the Mayor of Colombo! Silly batting from Warner, rushing down the pitch, giving his intentions up for the bowler to read like a book. De Silva pulled his length back, his skidder is helped by the fact the ball is very new. Warner realises he has to adjust his shot, he's also leg side of the ball, losing balance. Swishes at the ball, it ducks under his bat and Kusal Perera takes an outrageous catch off the bottom edge. Stays low. 21/1

82.5 bowled im. 128 kph, Lakmal strikes. Marsh has chopped on, against the run of play and this new ball has worked. Fuller than a good length - the ideal length. Just outside off - the fourth-stump line (almost the ideal line). Marsh is in two minds whether to play or leave. Thinks of playing but changes his mind late, the ball hits Marsh's withdrawing bat and clatters into the stumps. End of a superb knock ) 267/2
85.2 SL celebrate. An absolute ripper of a delivery. Superb bowling, slows it up so much outside off, draws Smith forward, the ball pitches on off after drifting in and spins away sharply. Kusal takes off the bails quickly, has Smith got something behind the line? I really don't think so. Close, but nothing behind the line. Is there too much doubt? More and more replays being viewed. Part of the foot is behind the line in the air, but nothing grounded. Out is the call. What a start to this new ball from SL. Another sublime knock from Smith 275/3
103.5 given! An absolute gem from Herath and Voges decides to walk off. Flat delivery on off, the ball is on a perfect length again. Voges is drawn forward but the ball spins past the outside edge to hit Voges on the back pad in front of off stump. Voges refers with his partner but opts not to review. Good non-review in my opinion. 316/5
89.1 Kusal thinks he has his man again. Another superb delivery from Herath, all too similar to Smith's. Kusal takes off the bails with Henriques a few inches short. The ball drifts in with his round-arm action, draws Henriques forward but the ball spins away late and beats the outside edge. Henriques' lunge has resulted in his dismissal. Sensational bowling, even with Henriques' long stride he couldn't get close enough to the pitch. The ideal length. 283/4
119.5 straight to the man. Marsh cannot believe what he has done. A sharp catch at short leg. A slowish delivery but full enough on leg. Marsh went back, instead of forward, and realised only too late of his error in judgement. Tried to fatally check his flick but it ended up in short leg's hands who took it easily. Nice low catch, aided by the trust in Herath's accuracy, staying in position 367/7
114.6 gone. Nevill is given. Nevill reviews again. This one there was no bat. Flatter delivery on off, the ball skids on with the arm. Nevill played forward, anticipating some turn, but there was absolutely none. Struck him in front of off? Point of impact is umpire's call, hitting the stumps halfway up. Nevill has to go. 353/6

122.2 one more. Lyon falls. A short delivery on leg, quite slow. Lyon goes back to look to clip to square leg but gets a thin inside edge onto his pad. The ball pops up for short leg to take, and he cannot believe he has got an easy catch 376/8
123.5 wow, this is some bowling. Herath takes yet another five-for. What bowling. Sooo much flight outside off, draws Hazlewood forward and despite the ball pitching quite full, it spins enough to go through a thin gap between pad and bat. From the rough. Clips the top of off stump. 377/9
125.1 gone. Herath takes six. What a champion effort. Flight outside off, loads of it. Holland looks to drive and gets a thin outside edge which deflects from Kusal's gloves into Mathews' hands, sticks in his right hand. 379/10

0.4 plumb. Absolutely dead. No doubt about that. Full and swinging back prodigiously. Pitched on off, the ball darted back in and hit Dilruwan plumb in front of off, who chose to offer no stroke to that. Starc is pumped. 8/1
13.3 ripper, squaring the batsman up and leaping past his outside edge. Nevill whips the bails off and draws a review, and he might well have got his man! The Australian wicketkeeper conjures a wicket, but waiting for a mistake the batsman would possibly never think of guarding against! He was beaten by a spitting offbreak, but it was on a shortish length so the turn is slow and it invariably beats the bat. Karunaratne was on the back foot, perhaps telling himself, "bad luck, mate. Next time" But he doesn't get the chance because that back foot lifts for just half a second. Nevill, that sneaky devil behind the stumps,. waits for that and flicks the bails off. Laughs his head off as the "Out" sign flashes 44/2

86.5 lovely loop. He got Silva forward with the flight, but it dips on him to make sure he can't reach the pitch of it. That's how a spinner gets his turn, that's when a spinner savours his wicket. Gets the outside edge and Smith pouches a simple catch at first slip. Silva walks off to a standing ovation from his team-mates and the crowd. End of a defining innings from Silva, for both himself and his team 276/7
20.5 appeal for a catch behind the stumps, umpire Ravi says no. Australia go for a review immediately. This is flatter, from over the stumps, Kusal had set up for the reverse sweep, committed to the shot and though he tried to adjust, he is beaten. Went off the bicep, certainly but I don't see any bat, oh but a zoomer puts thing into better perspective. Poor third umpire. This is not entirely conclusive. The side-on replay seems to suggest the ball bounces off the side of the bat. So umpire Kettleborough goes to live footage to look for the noise of bat hitting ball. Takes his time, watches the side-on replay where the ball changes direction after hitting the top edge of the bat and says that is the case and overturns the decision. Good work from Nevill again, running in front to catch the ball around the pitch area. Good on Holland too to change his trajectory and line to trump. the batsman's reverse sweep. And a great call from the third ump 69/3

27.2 he's good, he certainly is good! It's that fierce-paced, full length menace of a ball on middle and leg. Mendis falls over looking to flick it away and is hit in line with middle and leg stump. No doubt about that. 98/4
45.5 Nevill has no idea where the ball's gone, he thinks he has to catch it and prancing around like a cartoon character, where is it? where is it?. Steven Smith at slip though had it all under control and the sweep ends Mathews' innings. Played it early to a ball that hits the footmarks way outside off and veers sharply in at him on middle and off stump, got a bit of glove that goes straight up. 156/5
79.3 caught in front, loud shout for lbw, Lyon seemed confident. Not given. Smith goes with his bowler and asks for a review. Question would be, did it pitch on leg stump. Chandimal was playing back, to the flatter trajectory. He plays with a closed face, looking for a single towards midwicket. Ball hits the front pad on the knee-roll having skid through. Umpire Kettleborough says there is no bat involved. It's pitched in line and hitting the stumps. Australia have a breakthrough 246/6

91.1 big appeal for a catch at slip, and he's gone. Umpire Gaffaney spots the ball shaving the outside edge as he tries to defend but. The ball had plopped onto the footmarks and creates a minor landslide. This pitch is not going to be fun on the fifth day. Big turn, big bounce, easy catch to Smith at slip 297/8

21.4 he's walking, Mendis has taken a blinder at short leg! It came to him so quickly, he was following the ball all through standing so close. Eyes on it, and that helps his reflexes. Thrust his hands up at parries the ball and takes it on the rebound with on hand. Great effort. The bounce has done Marsh in, he thought it was going to be a simple ball that he could defend. That's perhaps why he defended at one pitching outside leg stump. The ball takes a lot of the pitch along with it, and that always tends to help a spinner. Sri Lanka go into lunch with smiles 77/1
29.6 bowled him around the legs as he pads up! Perera breaks into a huge smile and brandishes that forefinger at anyone who wants to see. Got that ball to drift just enough away from that lunging front foot of Warner's, pitch behind him and then turn to hit leg stump. 114/4
26.1 all hail the Sri Lankan hero. Raises his arms in triumph and barely even smiles, as if telling them "I'm here, why worry." Does Smith in with a slider on off stump, the trajectory makes Smith jump back, and he thinks it will turn away, that's why he as trying to cut. Big mistake from the Australian captain, he knows it as he walks off, admonishing himself. The ball pitched in line and skidded on to take off stump 100/2
26.6 another Australian batsman plays for turn. Voges had pushed forward to block, but his bat is outside the line. The flighted ball had a free path onto the front pad, Herath wheels around, spreads his arms and appeals in his signature fashion. Gets the answer he was looking for. Voges can't even review, it was that plumb 102/3
31.6 appeal for a run out, great work from Mathews at slip! This is close but he probably would be safe. Safe by a frame, I think. Oh wait, the zoomer gets him. Boy, that is one seriously thick crease and Henriques' bat has not crossed past it! He's gone! Superb reflexes from the SL captain, hitting the stumps direct. Henriques races down the pitch, and the offspinner hurls it flat and into the pads to cramp him. The ball lobs off his pad to the first slip where the magic happens 115/5
32.3 caught behind, Sri Lanka are ripping them to shreds! It's a lot slower, looped it up, hits the footmarks in front of the driving bat and the pitch wilts, throwing up a puff of dust and the assistance Herath wills it to. The ball turns, takes the outside edge and goes through to the keeper. Unplayable, really 123/6
38.3 caught at slip while he was sweeping! Ten for the match for Herath! A little top edge is all he can manage after he misjudges the line. It was too far outside off to be dragged over, and a good catch from Mathews behind the keeper. It lobbed up a bit, but he wouldn't have been expecting it to come to him, or to his left 140/7
40.6 top edge, four men chase it and the wicketkeeper throws himself into the meelee and comes up with the catch! Five for Herath in each innings, eleven in the match! Goes for the slog sweep again, but Herath had pulled his length back, got the ball to bounce over the shot and secure the top edge. Karunaratne at short midwicket was looking good for the catch until the wicketkeeper flings himself at the ball 157/8

44.1 gone! Perea plucks the stumps even as the ump pulled his finger up. Oh, but wait. Lyon has asked for a review. It's the slider, doesn't hit bat, hit in line of the stumps, Herath has a 13th in the Test. His second-best haul ever. HawkEye confirms the wicket. Sri Lanka have their first-ever whitewash over Australia 160/10
42.6 appeal for a stumping, and they think they have Hazlewood. Herath slows it down, loops it up for the drive. The batsman looks to lace it through the covers, as such presents a big gap between bat and pad. The ball gambols through, the keeper catches it and flicks the bails off so quickly. Hazlwood's back foot is on the line. Great work from Perera 159/9
