Hong Kong thrash Qatar by 176 runs

Group A

Offspinner Tauqir Ali took 4 for 19 to set up UAE's eight-wicket win over Bahrain at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur. With Bahrain bowled out for 122, UAE needed only 28 overs to wrap the game and openers Mohammad Iqbal and Arshad Ali paved the way with a 64-run partnership. Bahrain had reached 91 for 2 in the 19th over when Tauqir removed Abdul Waheed for eight. Bahrain never recovered from there and next four wickets fell for 18 runs. Imran Sajjad was their top scorer with 47; only two other batsmen made it to double figures.

Group B

Hong Kong scored a massive 176-run win over Qatar after their bowlers chipped in with the runs and the wickets at the Selangor Turf Club in Kuala Lumpur. Lower-order batsman Ilyas Gull added 66 and 118 respectively with tail-enders Najeeb Amar and Munir Dar. Though Dar, a left-arm spinner, did not bowl in the match, he top scored for Hong Kong with 89 off 52 balls, batting at No. 10. Hong Kong used only four bowlers to wrap up Qatar's innings in 19 overs. But it was fast bowler Irfan Ahmed (5 for 47) and left-arm spinner Amar (3 for 18) who did most of the damage and Omer Taj was Qatar's top scorer with 30.

Paras Khadka's unbeaten 71 helped Nepal beat Singapore by six wickets at the Kinrara Academy Oval in Kuala Lumpur. Chetan Suryawanshi and Chaminda Ruwan guided Singapore to 155 after medium-pacer Mahaboob Alam dismissed two top-order batsmen for ducks. Nepal also began badly, losing their first three wickets for 39 runs. But Khadka's half-century partnerships with Gyanendra Malla and Shakti Gauchan took them to victory with more than nine overs to spare.
