That's it for today. This is Rvel Zahid signing off on behalf of the crew at ESPNcricinfo. Good night and take care. Smell you later :)

Saud Shakeel, Player of the Match: I was thinking to take the game deep. I was getting starts but wasn't able to push on. Wanted to take the game till the end and then see how it goes, glad we got over the line. Wasim deserves full credit to finish in the last over. I assessed it very quickly (hitting strokes was difficult in middle overs) and I was watching the previous match and saw Shoaib Malik's interview where he talked about taking the game deep and see who blinks first...it's very rare that I have played all my cricket here but my previous game was my first T20 on this ground but yes you have grown up here, familiarity with conditions does help you do well

Here's Sampath Bandarupalli with a last-ball six PSL stat: Hitting a six to win on the last ball of the match in PSL:

David Wiese (LQ vs MS) in 2019 (3 runs needed) Sarfaraz Ahmed (QG vs LQ) in 2019 (2 runs needed) Mohammad Wasim (QG vs LQ) in 2024 (4 runs needed) Kieron Pollard (KK vs LQ) vs 2017 (4 runs needed) Shaheen Shah Afridi (LQ vs PZ) in 2022 to tie the match but lost in Super Over

Adrenaline was in overdrive towards the end and Quetta Gladiators held their nerve at crucial junctures in the game! We have witnessed world-class T20 action and entertainment over the last few days and both matches of the double-header were such riveting contests. Lahore Qalandars weren't quite at their best with the bat and once again, bowling at the death cost them the game. Shaheen missed his targets in the last over and he has not been as accurate and menacing as he used to be in previous editions. It must have been tough to handle the pressure after developing a reputation for seldom erring in his lengths and a high bar of performance. 166 was slightly subpar as Quetta kept them quiet for many overs. Sohail Khan brought all his experience to the fore and bowled an impeccable spell. Saud Shakeel responded with a beautifully paced and level-headed unbeaten 88-run knock and got some support from Nafay. It required Wasim Jnr to eke out a win; those timely boundaries in the last five overs kept them alive in the contest. Quetta have finally broken the hoodoo and made an entry into the playoffs after four years! Props to Jahandad Khan, who has grown voluminously in this season and kept it really tight. But what a game it turned out to be in the end. Another PSL thriller for the memory vault Lahore Qalandars are done for the season and it's also the first time that defending champions have finished last on the table. They just didn't seem too interested this season. The team selection was questionable throughout the season, with mainstays warming the bench. Rashid Khan's unavailability was a major setback, coupled with Haris Rauf's injury earlier in the tournament.

Shaheen Shah Afridi to Mohammad Wasim, SIX, Wild scenes out there, Wasim Jnr has done it! Stays deep in his crease and clubs the length ball at stumps over deep midwicket's right for a six, last night it was Shoaib Malik who won it on the last ball and tonight it's Wasim who has won it on the last delivery. The entire squad is out for a pitch invasion. Sir Vivian Richards is pumped up and he is on the ground with Shane Watson.
Wasim was calm and guided his team to a brilliant win, just took a step back in the crease and jauntily heaved him into the stands. Wasim punched the air in joy and the owner of Lahore Qalandars hugs the owner of Quetta Gladiators. We've had some riveting last-over contests over the past few days. Quetta are in the playoffs! WHAT A CRACKING GAME

Shaheen Shah Afridi to Saud Shakeel, FOUR, Plays a picturesque lofted straight drive and just evades mid-off and it had enough legs to reach the boundary, checked his shot and placed it into the gap, was a short of a length delivery just outside off, extraordinary shot!

4
Shaheen Shah Afridi to Saud Shakeel, FOUR, Slips out a full-toss at leg, crouches and helps it away to fine leg boundary, that is an outrageous shot, keeping a calm head at this stage and giving his team the best chance to get over the line
