8.50pm Pollard and Holder exchange hugs. What a return for Narine and Pollard! Narine exploited the slow track and claimed career-best figures of 6 for 27. Ricky and Holder complemented him as WI dismissed SA for 188. Pollard teed off in the chase, his first three scoring shots being sixes over long-on. He then dropped anchor and marshalled the chase. The fans celebrate the hosts' winning start by dancing and jiving in the stands.

Presentation

AB de Villiers: We laid the foundation perfectly well and felt 220-plus would be difficult to chase. But we were short with the bat. We lost our way a bit towards the end. Unfortunately, that cost us at the end of the night. I was pretty happy with the balance of the team. The wicket was tough to bat on and Sunil Narine is one of the best bowlers in the world at the moment. It was slower than any other wickets I had batted on during the IPL. There are no excuses and we lost our way at the end. That's what cost us.

Jason Holder: Great to start the tournament with a win. I thought we summed up the conditions early and pulled it back. Credit should go to Sunil Narine the way he bowled. Polly played a quality innings. Pleasing as a captain and the guys were composed. Australia will be tough and these two teams are quality teams. Pollard backed himself and hit the ball over the top. Credit must go to him.

Narine, Man of the Match: It is good being back in West Indies colours and it is something I enjoy. It is a blessing to be back. Every game there is a bit of nerves. I don't think there is any secret and I just wanted to give 100%. 70-80% I have changed my action. Still getting accustomed to the action.

That is all we have for you. Thanks for tuning in. Goodbye and good night.
