8.10pm: Didn't get the presentations from the Optus, but here is what Jos Buttler had to say on the Wade-Wood incident: "I was looking at the ball the whole time so I wasn't sure what happened. They asked if I wanted to appeal, but I thought we are here for a long time in Australia so would be a risky one to go for so early in the trip" [Different in a World Cup match?] "Maybe, yeah." So confirmation that England declined the opportunity to ask for Wade to be given out for obstructing the field.

Gnasher also tells me Aaron Finch reckoned it was Australia's game to win, as well as confirming he will go back up to opener for the next T20I. Alex Hales was Player of the Match, and that's about it from Perth. We'll be back to bring you the next two games from Canberra. Until then, stay classy. Bye!

8pm: Blimey, that was a game, eh? More than 400 runs, and it swung this way and that right until the last few balls. Australia were flying at 158 for 3, but Mark Wood got two in an over and then removed David Warner for a well-made 73 in his next, as the wheels fell off down the home straight. Matthew Wade almost dragged them over the line, but Curran held his nerve - and thankfully we are not left talking about the obstruction incident

Here's Sam Curran, who bowled an excellent final over, speaking to BT: "What a game, 200 each on the board. We batted well as a group, Jos and Hales gave us a beautiful platform. We knew they'd come hard, but pleased with how we bowled. Great start to the series. [Defending 16] Over before I executed a few yorkers, missed one and it went for six. Shows how hard it is. Some days it goes your way. Had the senior guys helping me at the end, great to start with a win. This is the point of the series, a very strong Australian side and great practice for the World Cup."

Curran to Swepson, 2 runs, plinked into the leg side, falls short of long-on. England win by eight runs and go 1-0 up in the series!

Mitch Swepson is in, all over barring extra dramas...

Kannadachi : "How well has Sam Curran bowled???? Backed himself after the 1st ball went for 4, excellence of execution "

Curran to Ellis, OUT, bowled 'im! Ellis swings for the pickets and misses as a length ball skids into the top of middle and leg. Curran has held his nerve superbly in this final over

Curran to Richardson, 1 leg bye, top-edged to short third! Or did that come off the shoulder? Given not out but England review - but the replays show it clearly deflected off the body, then looped to Wood inside the ring. No Real-Time Snicko available for this one, and Hot Spot is clear. Don't think there was any bat on it. Stays not out

Kane Richardson is in, 12 needed from three

"@Aby Matthew….England still 20 runs short?" chirps PaulB

Curran to Wade, OUT, Wade falls, picks out deep midwicket! He won't be finishing this one... slower ball, Wade again goes for the heave leg side but there's no pace to work with and it's a simple catch to Stokes a few yards in from the rope

MS Wade c Stokes b Curran 21 (24m 15b 1x4 1x6) SR: 140.00

Asif Raza: "I wish there was a graph for cricinfo win predictability software available. The way it changes sides in the end for a very well contested game is just funny and awesome."

Curran to Wade, no run, full on off stump, pace off and he mistimes it into his front leg!
