4.3 gottim, Bairstow with a juggling take this time! Anderson in business, Latham back in the hutch. Welcome to the new era, same as the old. Back of a length and Latham attempted a back-foot force, got a thick outside edge, which flew straight to third slip - Bairstow couldn't hold the initial chance, but threw himself forward to scoop up the rebound, before being mobbed by his team-mates 2/2
2.1 edged and that's a blinder at third slip! Anderson strikes in his second over, thanks to a wundergrab from Bairstow, flying low to his left and holding on one-handed! He's just managed to curl his fingers around it a whisker above the turf, diving across Crawley at second, and Will Young is heading for the dressing room. Stokes and McCullum will hope that's an omen for the new regime... Anderson the old dog has still got his bite, too 1/1
9.5 nicks him off, Potts has a Test wicket with his fifth ball! And what a wicket, Kane Williamson drawn into a misjudgement! Excellent line and a bit more oomph, 85mph/137kph and it kissed the edge, almost didn't carry to Foakes... but the keeper swooped low to his right and swallowed the chance. First dismissal on English soil for Foakes, and immediate joy in Test whites for Potts. NZ are looking wobblier than a jubilee trifle at 12 for 4! 12/4
7.1 another catch for YJB in the slips, and Broad now comes to the partay! Regulation stuff from England's venerable new-ball pair, who have reduced the Blackcaps to 7 for 3 inside eight overs. Conway guilty of looking to feel bat on ball here, I think, defending on a wide line but only succeeding in sending a low edge straight into the waiting paws of Bairstow at third 7/3

17.5 chops on! Potts gets Mitchell. Banged in, back of a length, and Mitchell hangs back, looking to defend from under his eyes. He's caught out by the extra bounce, and the balls skews off the inside edge of his splice and into the stumps! Potts leaps in celebration and has two big wickets in his first spell... New Zealand's slide continues 27/5
21.5 cleaned up, Potts has three! Blundell is caught in two minds and ends up offering no shot, only to hear the death rattle. Angling in from a good length, nips back sharply off a scrambled seam and crashes into the top of off stump. Potts has 3 for 6, NZ 36 for 6! 36/6

24.5 hooked down the throat of fine leg! The counterattack didn't last long! Anderson's short ball does the trick, getting up high enough for even the 6ft 8in Jamieson to lose control. Potts the man in the thick of the action again, steadies himself in front of the rope and pouches it safely 45/7
30.5 bounced out again! Potts again perfectly placed to take the catch at fine leg. Southee has had his fun and becomes a fourth victim for Anderson. The pristine figures have taken a dent, but England are so firmly on top that a 41-run stand for the eighth wicket won't have perturbed them too much 86/8
35.1 Potts strikes first ball! Trapped on the pad, up goes the finger, but Ajaz reviews. Around the wicket to the left-hander, beat his defensive push on the inside edge thanks to some movement in off the seam. Struck high relatively high on the back leg, thigh pad rather than pad. No bat. Hitting in-line, smashing the top of middle-and-leg! Michael Gough's on-field decision is upheld and just looks at Potts' figures: 8.1-4-8-4 on debut. 102/9
39.6 "oh no!" yelps Boult as he chips into the leg side. Slightly full of a length, Boult shuffled back and across, covering his off stump from very deep in the crease, and looked to work this off his pads as Stokes targeted the stumps. But he could only lob up a catch for Pope at short midwicket - and it's a good one, diving to his right 132/10

29.4 angling in, smacks Lees on the pads as he looks to clip him down to fine leg... up goes the finger! Lees reviews. This will be a grisly way to go if the decision is upheld. No bat involved, beaten on the inside edge. Impact in-line, and umpire's call on the top of leg stump, so Gough's original decision stands! 96/4
13.6 full again, tempts the drive, and there's an audible nick behind! Crawley seems bemused, but the clock counts down steadily as he discusses the review with his partner. Eventually he trudges off, and Snicko backs up the decision. Not the first time we've seen Crawley dismissed like that. Jamieson, the big man, does the business for NZ once again 59/1
23.6 nicks him off! Jamieson gets his reward for a probing spell and Pope's first innings at No. 3 ends early. Good bounce from a length, nipping away just a touch off the seam and Pope feathers through to Blundell, looking to defend. He shakes his head in frustration after a promising start as Jamieson leaps for joy. New Zealand have their second! 75/2
28.2 punched to gully off the back foot! Root falls to his bread-and-butter shot! Extra bounce from just short of a length. Root rocked back, opening the face and looking to steer down to wide third man, but could only divert it straight to Southee, who clings onto a superb reaction catch. Stunned silence as Lord's as Root trudges back... New Zealand are on one here! 92/3
32.3 chops on, England are in disarray! 59 for 0 turns into 100 for 6 and Boult has his first wicket. Angled across him on a length, Bairstow is cramped by the movement back into him, down the slope and gets a thick inside edge. The ball cannons into leg stump and New Zealand have their sixth wicket 100/6
31.3 edged behind, Stokes trudges back! Just full of a length, angling in down the slope. Stokes is pushing away from his body and gets a thick outside edge, and Blundell does the rest! New Zealand have another. England have lost 5 for 39! 98/5
39.5 jumps wide and angles the ball in, curving away from Foakes, who slices a thick edge to first slip! One that could easily have been left, another wicket to chalk up to batter error. But NZ won't care how they come, one to get and they are still two runs in front! 130/9
32.5 balloons up to slip via the glove! Short ball, which takes Potts by surprise. He ducks into it, unsure whether to play or leave, and swats hopefully at it. It skews up to Mitchell at first slip and Potts trudges off before the umpire has even made a decision. England have lost 5 for 8 in 28 balls! 100/7
37.3 castled! Broad swings like a rusty gate and loses his leg stump. Another bit of cricket wisdom: you miss, I hit. Test wicket No23 at Lord's for Southee, three shy of the record for an overseas player, and this game continues to rattle along 125/8

42.5 edged to slip, that's a wrap! Length ball, some extra bounce as it goes across Parkinson, who fiddles and steers a thick deflection into Mitchell's bread basket at first. Job done for NZ, finishing the England innings in just over half an our of the morning 141/10

13.2 beauty, and Rod Tucker lifts his finger belatedly after a prolonged appeal from Potts. Latham doesn't seem too sure of whether he nicked it or not, and he decides to review... It's back of a length in the corridor, and it seems to have straightened late as Latham went on the back foot to defend. And yup, it's grazed the outside edge lightly on its way to the keeper. Potts continues to have the dreamiest of debuts, and New Zealand are 35 for 3. The seam was scrambled at release 35/3
2.1 snaffled behind the stumps, Anderson strikes! Young falls to the 13th ball of the innings for the second time running! Perfect line and it drags him out and then seams to clip the edge, the ball almost dying on Foakes but he leaps forward and scoops it up low to his right. NZ lose their first, and they still trail by four runs 5/1
11.2 got him, Potts has dismissed Williamson twice on debut! Slightly loose from Williamson here. Back of a length outside off, and it straightens a touch. He likes to get on his toes and punch through the off side, but I think he played it earlier than he normally might, further out in front of his body with an angled bat. Thick edge, flies quickly into the lap of Bairstow at third slip 30/2
22.5 winkled him out, gloving down leg! Conway throws his head back in frustration, he'd been tied down and then falls in slightly unfortunate fashion. Short and angling into him, he would expect to put away the pull shot on most occasions, but ends up scuffing a catch to the keeper 56/4
83.3 Edged and taken! Broad ends the partnership five shy of 200! How badly did England need this!? Slants it in on a length just outside off, Mitchell has to play at it. Ends up getting a thick outside edge as Foakes does the rest. A terrific innings for New Zealand comes to an end as Mitchell walks out, raising his bat to the deserved ovation he gets at Lord's. 251/5
86.2 Heartbreak for Blundell! He has reviewed it but more in hope. That looks plumb in front and it is! When Broad does his thing with the new ball, can Anderson be far? He spears one full outside off and it jags back sharply. Blundell is forward in defends but doesn't account for the nip back. Misses it and gets it on the front pad and that was dead in front, as confirmed by the Hawk-eye. Shame that he couldn't convert it to a memorable ton at Lord's, walks back to a warm applause. England well in this now. 265/8
83.4 Huge appeal, Broad is up in his celebrappeal, too! And while he does so, there is a referral for run-out at the striker's end as there's a direct hit. Is de Grandhomme a goner? Yes, he is! Pope with the direct hit catches him unawares! De Grandhomme had missed the flick to get hit high on the back leg to elicit the appeal. But the ball had rolled towards slips, from where Pope hit the bull's eye as the batter had wandered down. England on a roll and back in this big time. 251/6
83.5 And it's a corker to get rid of Jamieson first ball! Lord's is on their feet and Broad has two in quick time Three wickets in three balls for England. Jamieson is beaten for pace as the ball goes off his front leg and clatters the stumps after he missed it. 251/7
91.3 tossed up, slashed to slip, Matt Parkinson has a Test wicket! Up above the eyeline, just 44mph. Very full, outside the line of off stump, and Southee gets a thick outside edge on his booming drive, which Root pouches at slip. Parkinson grins, and England need 277 in the fourth innings. 285/10
90.3 Ajaz Patel is given out but he reviews. The Hawk Eye returns three reds and Ajaz has to walk back. He looks to heave the length ball across the line but misses. It was as plumb as it could get. 281/9

7.6 pegs back his off stump with a nip-backer! Lees has been changing his guard when the bowlers come around the wicket and has exposed his off stump. Jamieson gets one to move appreciably off the seam, coming in with the angle, down the slope. Lees offered no shot, then watched and listened with horror to the death rattle as the ball crashed into the top of off. New Zealand have their first! 31/1
11.6 Edged and gone! Another Crawley innings that looked good but disappoints. This has been superb bowling by the tall man Jamieson and he reaps his rewards. Again delivers it full from wide of the crease, Crawley defends it away from the body. Perhaps he could have let it go. Ends up getting a thick edge towards gully where Southee takes a good diving catch. Second wicket for Jamieson. 32/2

19.6 And there goes Bairstow now! Jamieson celebrates and he has set that up excellently. This is bowled fuller, into the slope. Nips back in a touch. Bairstow yet again goes for the drive away from the body and inside edges it onto the stumps. England in tatters. 69/4
49.6 gottim, gloved through! Stokes has funked himself! Looking to uppercut but the short ball just keeps coming at him, leaning back as the hands go up, and Blundell accepts the gift gratefully! There's a gladiatorial mood around Lord's, but it is New Zealand's talisman who has landed perhaps the decisive blow 159/5
