Thanks for joining us. Great to have your continue. The second game of the night comes from Cape Town shortly. Do join us for that. Cheers

Time for the presentation

AB de Villiers: We've got three home games in a row, so have an opportunity to get some momentum. Nothing wrong with our team, we were outplayed in the big moments, but we will bounce back. This league is very exciting, watched it on TV last night, exciting to watch it in the team room. The fans are enjoying it, the overseas players have, I believe this is a superb league.

Albie Morkel: We were behind the run rate, with the rain, I knew I had to make them pay. Wicket stayed true right throughout the game. I think this was a much-better game for us, we were outstanding on the field, little bit of a nervous chase but I'm not too worried.

Player of the Match: Kyle Abbott for his 4 for 27.

"Once the first game was out of the way, was relaxed for the last couple of days. Had a good lead-up coming into the game. To get AB de Villiers early was great for us. We executed plans well superbly tonight, I was lucky to pick wickets at one end. Fielding and catching is a big part of our training regime, we didn't do too well in the first game, so it's pleasing to have been able to do it well tonight. We played a perfect game, work ethic leading up to the competition has been excellent. Hopefully we can carry that forward."

Final confirmation then that the match has been called off. Durban Heat win. Their first in the competition.

5.20pm It has started to rain heavily, more covers being brought in.

5.13pm They're going off the field and the covers are coming off. If they don't come back on, Durban Heat will pocket four points on virtue of being well ahead on the DLS. Almost all of them seem to have papers in their pockets. Skies look dark and grey, but it's not really coming down hard, so there's hope of a resumption. Let's see.

15.6
1
Sipamla to Maharaj, 1 run, stands tall and punches this to cover for a single.
15.5
W
Sipamla to Morkel, OUT, through with the pull, played too early and the off bail goes for a walk. But is this a little too late for Spartans?

JA Morkel b Sipamla 26 (15m 12b 3x4 2x6) SR: 216.66

15.4
4
Sipamla to Morkel, FOUR, pulled but not in control but enough to beat mid-on and race away to the short boundary towards long-on. This is turning into a cruise
15.3
W
Sipamla to Zondo, OUT, has picked out fine leg via the top-edged pull. Zondo's played a good hand. That said, this is also an excellent catch be cause the fielder running in was on the move. Mendis didn't allow that to hamper him.

K Zondo c Mendis b Sipamla 25 (21m 11b 3x4 1x6) SR: 227.27

15.2
4
Sipamla to Zondo, FOUR, goes full this time and Zondo goes over the top, over the bowler's head. Beats mid-on and bullets to the fence
15.1
4
Sipamla to Zondo, FOUR, width and he belts this cut to the point boundary. It's all fall apart for the Spartans. This is poor field placement, even poorer bowling. At 125 clicks, you can't dream of banging the ball in short.

END OF OVER:

  • Sikandar Raza2-0-26-0
  • Rory Kleinveldt1-0-13-0
14.6
6
Sikandar Raza to Morkel, SIX, too short, sitting up for him and Morkel launches him into the stands at deep midwicket, the one I call the Yuvraj corner. Poor bowling
14.5
0
Sikandar Raza to Morkel, no run, yorker on off, dug out
14.4
4
Sikandar Raza to Morkel, FOUR, it's the reverse sweep, hit superbly. Nailed it so well that deep point had no chance even though he wasn't far from the ball.
14.3
2
Sikandar Raza to Morkel, 2 runs, too short, he makes room and slaps this into the gap at deep point for a couple
14.2
1
Sikandar Raza to Zondo, 1 run, pulls towards the man coming in from deep midwicket
14.1
6
Sikandar Raza to Zondo, SIX, swept over deep square, into the grass banks! Audacious from Zondo. Got across to get inside the line and slog sweep. Cracking stuff.

Kleinveldt to Morkel, FOUR, full toss angling away, he reaches out to the delivery and belts this to beat sweeper cover
13.5

Kleinveldt to Morkel, SIX, walloped! This sails over the deep midwicket boundary. Stunning hit. Length ball that was sitting up nicely and he just swung across the line
13.4
0
Kleinveldt to Morkel, no run, makes room and punches this length delivery to cover.
13.3
0
Kleinveldt to Morkel, no run, nips back in from middle to hit him high on the thigh pad.
13.2
1
Kleinveldt to Zondo, 1 run, cut away, half-stop at point but can't prevent a single. AB with a leap to try and catch that, but this was really travelling. Tough, tough chance.
13.1
2
Kleinveldt to Zondo, 2 runs, pulls but not with complete authority, just eludes midwicket

Rory Kleinveldt into the attack

END OF OVER:
13 | 4 Runs 1 Wkt | DH: 83/4 (57 runs required from 36 balls, RR: 6.38, RRR: 9.50)

  • Albie Morkel0 (2b)
  • Khaya Zondo7 (4b)
  • Jeevan Mendis3-0-13-2
  • Sikandar Raza1-0-7-0
12.6
0
Mendis to Morkel, no run, nice flight, he lunges forward and eases this back to the bowler.
12.5
0
Mendis to Morkel, no run, beauty. This one drifts away and skids through to beat the outside edge.
12.4
W
Mendis to Miller, OUT, as plumb as it can get! Miller attempts a sweep to a full ball, misses and this would've crashed into middle. low-arm slingy legbreak that was from Mendis, a kind of delivery Kedar Jadhav would've endorsed.

DA Miller lbw b Mendis 7 (13m 10b 0x4 0x6) SR: 70.00

12.3
2
Mendis to Miller, 2 runs, width outside off, he walks across and drills this down to wide long-off, risky second, fortunately Mendis didn't collect the throw in trying to break the bails.
