Simi Singh was unbeaten for the first time in an ODI, guided the tail well to help Ireland eek out a nervy three wicket win over Afghanistan. Andrew Balbirnie was the top batsman on show today and his classy 60 off 93 balls set up the base for Ireland, there was a couple of wobbles with wickets falling in clusters. Yet the truth is that Afghanistan never really had enough runs to defend, and although Rashid picked up another three wickets, Ireland were always ahead of the run-rate.
It really goes to show that you don't need to be scoring a mountain of runs to have an exciting game. Who doesn't love a low scoring thriller? Its now one-one in the series, with the final game this Friday. I'll be here and I hope that you will be able to join me too. This is Justin saying goodnight from Stormont.
