Player of the Match

We have a pitch invasion from the delighted hope supporters. After an incredible day Scotland have won by six runs to beat England for the first time. One of the great days in Scotland's sporting history. A now a rendition of Flower of Scotland starts. Hugs all round in the Scotland camp. A thrilling match played on a superb batting pitch, but it was Scotland's nerve and guts with the ball - and in the field - which ultimately won them the game after Calum MacLeod's magnificent century earlier in the day. After Jonny Bairstow's barnstorming century, England will feel they should have chased those down but they played a full ill-judged shots at times - and there was some poor running as well. That, though, can all wait. This is Scotland's day

Biki: "Party all night SCOTLAND ROCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

AM Ghouri: "what a last 10 or 12 hours for cricket. bangla women won the asia cup, WI won the test match and now Scotland wins against England. so happy"

Safyaan Sharif "Incredible effort from the lads, they've just proven once again that they are capable of playing at this standard, and they did really well throughout the innings. Up top, it was tough in the second half but we manged to pull things back and did the job so really... I'm lost for words, I don't know what to say.

"I just knew if I bowl the right line and hit my yorker, it's going to tail, and luckily once again I managed to hit that yorker and got that wicket which was an absolutely great feeling to get over the line."

Kyle Coetzer "A hugely special day for us, our coach said we should make history and we've done that. Credit to Calum, that outstanding knock, and what an occasion it was. In the first Powerplay, wherever we moved the field [Bairstow] hit it somewhere else and I was basically hoping he would mishit one. I'm extremely proud, but it is a trait we are getting very good. The last couple of years we have been very good with the ball. 371 plays 365 is an outstanding. The bowlers found it hard, but great to be on this side of the fence."

Scotland's players doing a lap of honour and signing autographs. Wonderful scenes on a sunny evening in Edinburgh.

Eoin Morgan "I thought they played close to their best cricket and we didn't. Full credit to Scotland, bringing your best game for a one-off game is hard to do. Don't think it's the worst thing for us...a couple of mistakes. We got rewards for our shots which brought us close, but not close enough. I think we were a little bit rusty, missed our lines a bit, we only got together yesterday. I think we'll be better for the run out. The level of expectation around the team has been quite high for a while, so we've managed to deal with that pretty well. If it is a problem it's something we'll have to address but don't think it is. It's a difficult summer ahead for us, but it was a good run out. I don't think we are far away, against a strong Australia they'll be extremely difficult to beat."

We'll leave the immediate post-match reaction there. But we'll have plenty more on the site over the next few hours and tomorrow. What a day for Scotland. They'll enjoy tonight! From Gnasher and Alan it's goodbye and we'll see you for the first match against Australia on Wednesday.

Sharif to Wood, OUT, SCOTLAND HAVE DONE IT A brilliant yorker traps Wood in front and the ground erupts. What a delivery, late inswing, takes Wood on the boot. Incredible scenes.

MA Wood lbw b Sharif 1 (2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 50.00

Sharif to Plunkett, 1 run, full ball, heaved in the air through midwicket, again wide of long-on but they won't be taking on Leask's arm this time

1
Sharif to Wood, 1 run, low full toss on the pads, could have been costly but it's just clipped to deep square

Another chat between captain and bowler. One ball will do it

Sharif to Plunkett, 1 run, full and straight, firmly down the ground to long-off...England can't take any risks now

Mark Wood the No. 11.

Sharif to Plunkett, 1 run, OUT, Rashid is gone here! What drama! Coming back for the second. Plunkett swung this down the ground, just wide of long-on, and they chanced the second. Strong throw from the deep by Leask and a good gather at the stumps

AU Rashid run out 5 (8b 0x4 0x6) SR: 62.50

It will be Sharif with the penultimate over. Milan: "It's 11:23 in Nepal and I'm watching this match just to see Scotland winning this one , come on Scotland, show the power of associate nation"

Sole to Plunkett, 1 run, desperation all round! Plunkett swings at a yorker, squeezes it into the leg side, sets off for a scampered run, Sole bounds across from his follow through, dives, collects and almost hits at the non-striker's end. Would have been tight

0
Sole to Plunkett, no run, a strangled appeal for lbw as this swings in late and takes the pad, Plunkett playing to the leg side, but it's heading well down the leg side

Jasmeet: "Can't believe Evans, who has bowled fairly well today all things considered, won't complete his quota of 10 overs. Questionable decision by Coetzer, that."

1
Sole to Rashid, 1 run, short of a length, shapes in at off stump, dropped to the off side and that's good running

Sole to Plunkett, 1 run, back of a length, swings in quite significantly, pushed into the off side

Sole is brought back for the 48th over. Plenty of conversations going on. From Peter: "The crowd sitting outside the Grange pavilion is singing 'Flower of Scotland.' Goosebumps. They want Scotland to pull it off badly."

46.2
1
Sharif to Plunkett, 1 run, low full toss outside off, drives and gets it down the ground to long-on without much timing

Rakesh: "That was pretty silly by Ali. 26 were required off 30 balls and England could have easily done it in safe singles with the odd boundary. Needless stroke after playing so well and it's brought Scotland back in the game"
