2.4 easy as. This is a telegraphed move, but Brathwaite hasn't read the shorthand correctly. Two short legs in. Ishant is looking to get this into the ribs or get it to swing in sharply. Brathwaite must avoid fending or tucking. He doesn't. Ishant has got a short ball to rise into the rib/chest area, and Brathwaite fends at it to give Pujara a simple catch at forward short leg 4/1
5.1 sharp catch by Rahul at fine gully. Short of a length, sixth-stump line, and seaming away. There is no need to play at this but Chandrika pushes at it with hard hands, and gets a thick edge, which flies. There are two gullies, and Rahul is the finer of them, and takes this in front of his head. Good sharp reaction from the India opener who could be batting today itself. To make it worse for Chandrika, Shami mimics Chandrika's pre-ball preparations with his arm 7/3
2.5 oh Bravo's horror run continues. To be fair to him, this is the best of the three balls he has got out to in the series. Ishant meanwhile is on a hat-trick. Ishant goes round the wicket (they have a plan here), bowls it full, about sixth-stump line, Bravo feels he has to play at it because of the angle, although he could have left it alone. So as Bravo pushes at it feebly, the ball holds its line to take the edge for a catch to Kohli at second slip 4/2
29.3 beautiful bowling. Samuels falls after a promising start to the innings. Wonderful bowling, though. He tosses this up higher after being hit for the six. And this one dips on him, and Samuels's front foot is stuck after his initial movement. The dip, though, requires him to be further down the pitch to play a forceful shot. Now that there is distance between bat and ball, there is enough time for it to turn, take the inside edge and lob up for a simple catch to short leg 115/5
25.3 Ashwin has struck in the last over before lunch but I think this is turning too much to be out lbw. I am afraid this is not the smartest decision. This offbreak has hit him in front, but is turning appreciably. You rarely see them given out lbw. Back to what happened, though. Nicely tossed up, dips on him, is not in his driving range so Blackwood defends. This turns sharply from just outside off, seems to have beaten the inside edge. Given by Aleem Dar. Hawkeye says this is kissing the outside of the top of the leg stump. Oh well 88/4
36.4 and Shami has drawn a classic Test-match dismissal although the batting hasn't been the smartest. It began with him bowling short of a length and a set of stumps outside off last over. With every ball Shami has brought the line and length closer to off in order to make him play and play off the front foot. However you can't get too close to the batsman so the margin is little. And now he has found the right length and right line. On a good length, about fifth-stump line. Chase drives on the up, and edges it through. And what happens after it will please India a lot. A lovely low slip catch from Dhawan. Slip catching has been India's bugbear since Dravid and Tendulkar and Laxman retired 131/7
35.1 strange dismissal. Not sure of his off stump there. Dowrich sees this offbreak is short and outside off so makes up his mind to leave it alone. Then he sees the ball turn, and feels compelled to protect his stump. the belated and uncommitted attempt to play at it results in results in his toe-ending it through to Saha. Oh the replays show his attempt to play at this is uncommitted because his bat is stuck momentarily in the flap of the pad on its downswing 127/6
45.5 Five-for No. 18 in 34 Tests. Holder looks to leave his crease to come to the pitch of the ball, but he has made a highly tentative half movement forward. Ashwin needs to second invitations to turn the ball back in, take the inside edge onto the pad and take another bat-pad wicket 158/9
43.3 and Ashwin has another. Bishoo loses patience. The backward short leg has just moved to short fine leg. This is tossed up teasingly outside off, Bishoo finally goes for the sweep, and Ashwin's bounce takes the top edge for a simple semi-skier for Dhawan at short fine leg 151/8

95.4 checking the catch so that means the umpire thinks he has hit it. Appeal for a catch down the leg side, and the soft signal is not out, but that catch is clean as a whistle so that could be the first wicket by a bowler today. Short of a length, down the leg side, Rahul looks to play it fine for some easy runs, gets the edge (?), and Dowrich takes it well above the ground. Oh hang on, they are checking for the edge as well. I thought once you go up for the catch you check just the catch. This is strange. There is no hotspot or snicko here so it is near impossible to tell for sure with these replays if he edged it. Coach Simmons is looking perplexed because he is thinking what we are thinking: when you go up to check the catch, how can you check the edge? Finally, they have ruled Rahul out. Rahul is really disappointed as he walks back off. Forget everything else, well played Rahul, especially when he gets chances only when one of the openers is injured 277/3
19.3 Dhawan gives them another opportunity, and this time li'l Bravo makes no mistake. Another loose drive away from body, he fails to keep it down, and Bravo takes a low catch diving to his right at short cover 87/1
72.2 Pujara has run himself out. He looks dismayed after all the hard work. He has made an error in judgement here. This is short of a length, into his body, and he has tucked it away. This is wide of the man at square leg, but the slowness of the outfield lets him field it easily. On a quicker surface this might just have gone out towards the boundary. Here Chase fields it and hits the stumps direct even as Pujara dives at the non-striker's out. Or perhaps Pujara thinks he has played this much finer than he actually has. After all the hard work and concentration, a disappointing end for Pujara. You have got to feel for him, but he is slow on his feet in this run, and most runs 208/2
103.3 that's a soft dismissal. Chandrika takes a sharp catch at short leg. Short of a length, Kohli goes back, thinks he can turn it to leg for an easy single, but he plays this straight to short leg, and Chandrika takes it shin high 310/4

112.1 hit him on the toe, I think, and hence given. This is really full, Ashwin plants his front foot down to defend, but gets too close to it. Replays show the ball has hit the toe a split second before pitching on the ground. That means the umpire has to assume the ball with go straight on. And with that assumption Ashwin looks out because he has been hit pretty much in front of middle. I am quite interested in how hawkeye will project this accurately. How will it know the amount of bounce on this delivery 327/5
151.4 Holder finally gets his reward. A wicket in the ninth over of this spell. His first wicket of the series. This looks worse than it is really. Might just have hit him outside the line. The ball is short of a length, outside off, seams back in, stays low, hits Saha on the back foot. He looks dead live, but only about 10% of the ball has hit him in line of the stumps. Fair enough, though. That smile is good to see on the captain's face in a series that there hasn't been much to smile about 425/6
163.4 Mishra walks. Nice dipping offbreak, Mishra not to its pitch, the ball turns back in as he looks to work it to leg. The inside edge thuds into the knee roll and lobs up for a simple catch 458/7
163.5 Chase is on a hat-trick. Lovely bowling. Another nice dipping offbreak, Shami nowhere near its pitch as he defends off the forward. The ball doesn't turn as much as he expects it to, and Chase has hit the top of off 458/8
171.1 Chase has a Test five-for. Yadav looks for the big almighty slog, and gets a top edge to a flat offbreak, and the skier is taken at midwicket. With that Kohli has declared 500/9

12.6 West Indies keep contributing to India's cause. He has chosen a short ball to get out to. . Mishra pitches short, outside leg, but Brathwaite's weight is forward and only his upperbody goes back as he tries to pull. A feeble top edge is caught by midwicket running back. Mishra and Kohli can't believe their luck. They know they are supposed to work harder for Test wickets. A good catch, though, by KL Rahul running back and taking it over his shoulder 41/2
2.3 bowled him. While trying to leave it alone. This is short of a length, just outside off, angling in, Chandrika is slow in withdrawing from the shot, and the ball hits elbow before ricocheting on. This is the extra bounce then 5/1
15.5 and Bravo has finally fallen to the short ball. This was, I am sorry to say, a-comin'. Bravo has been abysmal against the short ball all morning, continuously fending at them while taking his eyes off them, making no attempt to get out of the way or hook, like proper batsmen do. This one is at his throat, his head is looking away, the gloves are up in self defence, and before we know third slip is the taking the catch, and the lunch is ready 48/4
13.5 another wicket. Rain or no rain, West Indies batsmen are not spending too much time on the pitch. This is a perfect delivery, though. The coaches all talk about the length that hits the top of off. Shami does it. Pitches short of a length, middle and off, Samuels defends for the angle, but it holds its line to peg back the off stump 41/3
33.3 it must have been good but it's over now. Good while it lasted, but didn't last long enough to change the course of the Test. Ashwin - hit for a four and six already by Blackwood - shows he is too good for one-dimensional batting in Test cricket. Every time he has slowed the ball down, he has had Blackwood either jabbing or groping. This time the ball dips to create gap between the bat and the pitch of the ball, it then turns to take the inside edge of the bat onto the pad, and Pujara dives forward and to his left at short leg to take a sensational catch centimetres from the ground. Umpire Gould rules the catch clean without the help of replays. And clean it is 141/5

71.4 Mishra breaks through. Dowrich is distraught. He is disgusted. Oh Ian Gould, what have you done here? Given out lbw off the inside edge. And we don't have DRS. A flat legbreak from Mishra, pitches within the stumps, Dowrich plays for the turn, but the ball doesn't turn as much as expected. Dowrich gets an inside edge onto his knee roll. The appeal is spontaneous. Ian Gould thinks and thinks before raising his finger 285/6
