Southern Rocks scrambled home by the narrowest of margins against Matabeleland Tuskers at the Masvingo Sports Club, getting to their target of 265 off the last ball with one wicket standing. It meant seamer Njabulo Ncube's maiden five-wicket haul was in vain as last man Tafadzwa Kamungozi hit the required five runs off the final two deliveries of the 50th over bowled by Ncube.

Rocks' chase had been rocked at the start by Glen Querl and Ncube who reduced them to 30 for 3. Richmond Mutumbami and Alester Maregwede brought Rocks back into the game with a 95-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Mutumbami hammered 13 boundaries in his 94 off 79 balls before Ncube's double strike in the 40th over accounted for him and Tendai Chisoro. Maregwede then put on another 75 with Hilary Matanga to leave Rocks needing 14 off 13.

Ncube brought the game to life again, though, bowling Matanga with the last ball of the 48th over. Maregwede (70) was still around but Ncube bowled him as well off the fourth ball of the 50th before Kamungozi managed to get Rocks through. Tuskers' total had earlier been built on opener Gavin Ewing's patient 67 and useful contributions from four of the other top five batsmen. Medium-pacer Roy Kaia was the most successful bowler for Rocks, taking 3 for 32.

Mashonaland Eagles made it three wins in three games as they thrashed Mid West Rhinos by 139 runs at the Kwekwe Sports Club. New Zealand batsman Rob Nicol led the way with a century at the top of the order. Nicol put on 161 for the second wicket with Ryan Bishop (76) before captain Stuart Matsikenyeri took charge, clubbing 12 fours in racing to an unbeaten 80 off only 37 deliveries as Eagles closed on 308 for 5.

Rhinos never got going in the chase after fast bowler Trevor Garwe accounted for the top three batsmen cheaply. Despite six batsmen getting in to double figures, no one managed more than 34 and Rhinos were dismissed for 169 in the 36th over.
