UA jersey tour: WR Keith Gavin

CRAWFORDVILLE, Fla. -- ESPN 300 wide receiver Keith Gavin received his Under Armour All-America game jersey presented by American Family Insurance on Wednesday afternoon in front of teammates, coaches, faculty and friends at Crawfordville, Florida Wakulla High School.

The 11th-ranked wide receiver and 80th-ranked player overall in the ESPN 300 said being selected to this game was a dream come true.

“It’s a big thing for me,” Gavin said. “It was one of my childhood goals and dreams. I remember when I was a kid playing rec league ball and I have a good friend, Nigel Bradham, that played in an All-American game and I just remember that I couldn’t wait to get to high school so I could work my butt off so that I could hopefully get invited to one of these games, and it happened."

The four-star prospect was a one-time Florida State commitment, but backed off of that pledge back in August. Despite his decommitment from the Seminoles, Gavin remains high on FSU.

“I still have FSU in my top schools,” Gavin said. “I still talk to their coaches all the time. It’s out of FSU, Alabama and Georgia right now.”

In addition to his top three schools Gavin will be visiting Florida this upcoming weekend for the Gator's home game against Vanderbilt, and Clemson is another school the talented pass-catcher is still considering.

Gavin is unsure of when he will announce his final decision.

Q&A with Keith Gavin

What is your first football memory?

Gavin: My first year in pee wee, it was my first year playing football and I would be overweight a little bit, so I’d have to play on the offensive line and wear a yellow jersey. We went undefeated and won the "super bowl" my first year, so that was probably my first memory.

If you could start a team with any other player in this class who would it be and why?

Gavin: I’d have to say A.J. Brown. Me and him are like the same size. We are both big, physical receivers. I feel like me and him would be a huge dual threat. And of course, Feleipe (Franks), I’ve played with him since junior high.

If you could play 1-on-1 with any professional athlete in their sport, who would it be and why?

Gavin: I’d have to say Primetime, Deion Sanders. Because he’s one of the best cornerbacks to ever come through the NFL. If I could shine on Deion, I could shine on anybody.

What number do you wear in high school and is there a reason why you wear that number?

Gavin: I wear No. 7. I used to be No. 4 but when I got to high school, they gave me seven and my freshman year I kind of just balled out with it, so I just took it and ran with it.

What’s something about you that not many people would know?

Gavin: I’m a big family guy. I like to hang out with my family a lot. I’m real laid back. I also like to fish and hunt.
