UA jersey tour: RB B.J. Emmons

ESPN 300 running back B.J. Emmons received his Under Armour All-America game jersey presented by American Family Insurance on Thursday in front of teammates, coaches, faculty and friends at Freedom High School in Morganton, North Carolina.

The 5th-ranked running back and the 64th-ranked player overall in the ESPN 300 said being selected to this game was a dream come true.

“Growing up, the game always caught my eye,” Emmons said. “Being in an all-star game means you are one of the top players in the state or in the nation, so it’s a big honor to be able to put the jersey on and be able to play with that group of guys. it’s a great feeling.”

The four-star prospect has had a chance to watch past Under Armour practices and games and said there was one player who caught his eye.

"I remember watching Jabrill Peppers in the practices and he always had a good motor and brought a lot of energy. I just liked seeing how other people played the game and he’s one that stood out."

Emmons has been committed to Alabama since July and despite other teams continuing to pursue him, the 5-foot-11, 220-pound running back, remains solid in his pledge to the Crimson Tide. Emmons, however, said he does plan to take his visits.

“My commitment is as strong as its ever been before,” Emmons said. “I’ll probably use my five official visits. That’s a once in a lifetime opportunity, it’s not like I’m going to be as young as I am again and to play football in high school and get that opportunity ever again to take official visits. So I’m going to take my visits. I haven’t decided on all of my visits, but I know I want to get to Florida and to LSU."

Q&A with B.J. Emmons

What is your first football memory?

Emmons: My first football memory, it would have to be me scoring my first touchdown. It was like a 60-yard run and my daddy was running right along side me on the sidelines.

If you could start a team with any other player in this class who would it be and why?

Emmons: I’d like to play with Dexter Lawrence. He’s a big man. A guy with that size and knowing what he could do to somebody, yeah he’s a guy I’d want to be on my team.

If you could play 1-on-1 with any professional athlete in their sport, who would it be and why?

Emmons: I’d have to say I’d like to play against Todd Gurley. Early I was committed to Georgia, but Gurley has always caught my eye because the way he works out and the way he runs hard.

What number do you wear in high school and is there a reason why you wear that number?

Emmons: I wear No. 5. There was a guy on our team when I was younger that I really looked up to and he wore that number. Ever since then though, I’ve wanted to change it into my own number.

What’s something about yourself that not many people would know?

Emmons: I like to play the drums. I don’t play much but maybe just any given Sunday at church, like when church is over.
