          Kicker and punter Dominic Maggio was presented with an Under Armour All America jersey on Tuesday afternoon, in a ceremony attended by friends and family.

          Maggio, one of the nation's top kicking and punting prospects, is honored to end his high school career in the Under Armour All-America Game, before heading to the ACC.

          “I’m so blessed to be in this prestigious game,” said Maggio. “To play alongside some of the nation's elite players is a great honor. To represent Boys Latin High School before I go start college at Wake Forest is a great opportunity.”

          Maggio is the first player in the Under Armour All-America Game from Boys Latin, better known as a national power in boys' lacrosse. With roughly 300 students from grades 9-12, and a small community, the news quickly spread that Maggio had been selected to play in the game.

          “Since we are a small school, we are a tight-knit community. Once the media found out that I was selected, there has been a lot of talk about it. I’m happy to represent Boys Latin. Coming from a small B-conference in the Maryland, this is something great to be a part of for our school and I’m sure it has helped spread the word about Boys Latin.”

          Seven questions with Dominic Maggio:

          What player are you looking forward to competing with or against in the Under Armour All-America Game?

          That’s difficult. I know all the specialists. They are all great guys. I guess I want to see how the specialist handle the pressure of performing in the game on ESPN.

          If you could start a team with any player in your class, who would it be and why?

          Got to go with Braden Mann. As a punter, he could flip the field for his team.

          What is your earliest football memory?

          Probably kicking a 30-yard field goal my first game of football. I kicked a 30-yarder when I was in the fifth grade. That got some attention.

          Which football player did you watch as a kid?

          I grew up playing quarterback all the way up until high school. Because of that, it was Tom Brady -- even though I’m a Baltimore Ravens fans and will catch some grief for it. He’s a great player, and I always looked up to him.

          If you could take on any pro in their sport, who would it be and why?

          I think I would like to take on Roger Federer in tennis. My dad is a pretty good tennis player, and I have followed Federer. He’s so talented.

          What number do your wear, and why?

          I wear 8. That was my dad’s (former UCLA standout Kirk Maggio) number when he punted in the World League for the Birmingham Fire. He’s my coach and my idol, and I wear 8 in honor of him.

          What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

          I have a passion to be a doctor, an eye doctor. Some people know that, but some might be surprised. I’m majoring in pre-med with minor in business at Wake Forest.
