Cade Spilde, Stoughton High School

Year: Senior.

Sports: Football, wrestling.

Sports highlights: Cade is a returning letterwinner and a two-year starter in football as an outside linebacker and punter and placekicker. As a junior, he earned All-Area honorable mention honors as a punter and All-Badger South Conference second-team honors as a punter and honorable mention recognition as a linebacker.He played on special teams as a sophomore.

Cade is a three-year letterwinner and three-year starter in wrestling. He has posted a career record of 120-47 entering his senior year. As a junior, he posted a 44-12 record at 152 pounds and placed fifth at the Rumble on the Red tournament in Fargo N.D. He was third at sectionals, second at regionals and runner-up in the Badger Conference tournament and earned All-Badger South Conference first-team and All-Area honorable mention honors. The Vikings won the Badger South Conference title, Badger Conference Tournament championship and the WIAA Division 1 team state title.

As a sophomore, Cade placed sixth at the WIAA Division 1 individual state tournament at 138 pounds and finished with a 45-13 record. He was second at sectionals and regionals and third at the Badger Conference tournament. He earned All-Badger South Conference second-team honors. The Vikings won the Badger South Conference title and Badger Conference Tournament and also finished runner-up at the WIAA Division 1 team state tournament.

His freshman season, Cade finished with a 31-22 record at 132 pounds. He was third at sectionals, second at regionals and fifth at the Badger Conference tournament. He placed eighth at the prestigious Cheesehead Tournament in Kaukauna. The Vikings won the Badger South Conference title and Badger Conference Tournament and also finished runner-up at the WIAA Division 1 team state tournament.

I got my start in sports: Because of my dad coaching wrestling. He is the co-head varsity wrestling coach at Stoughton.

I wish I could play: Water polo.

My most memorable moments in sports: Winning the WIAA Division 1 team state title in wrestling.

I like about high school sports: The competitiveness.

I enjoy playing football because: There’s physical contact on every play and all the strategy that goes into one game.

Advice: “Learn from upperclassmen’s mistakes so you don’t make the same mistakes.”

My role models are: My parents, Dan and Lisa.
