Jon Zobel, Reedsburg High School

Year: Senior.

Sports: Football, hockey, baseball, track and field.

Sports highlights: Jon is a three-time letterwinner and three-year starter in football, competing at cornerback and safety. A co-captain as a senior, he finished with 45 tackles, including three for loss, and earned Badger North Conference honorable mention honors as a junior.

He is a three-time letterwinner and three-year starter in hockey, competing as a defenseman. He will serve as a team captain his senior year. The Beavers won the Badger North Conference title his junior year and advanced to the sectional championship game his sophomore season.

Jon played baseball as a freshman and sophomore as a center fielder and catcher. He switched to track and field his junior year and competed in the pole vault and 400-meter relay on the JV team.

Pre-game ritual or superstition: I eat the same pre-game meal, a Milio’s No. 14 with bacon, then go into the locker room and lay out all my equipment to make sure I have everything. I tend to not listen to music because it gets me a little to hyped, then I put my equipment on in this order: right sock, left sock, girdle, pants, right cleat, left cleat, t-shirt, shoulder pads, jersey, and then my helmet.

Cumulative GPA: 3.45.

Favorite subject/class: History.

Favorite teacher: Mr. Kevin Runde.

Three words to describe me are: Active, enthusiastic, humorous.

I got my start in sports: When I was three years old playing hockey and eight years old playing football.

I wish I could play: Lacrosse.

My most memorable moment in sports: Winning the Badger North Conference title in hockey.

I like about high school sports: Making friends and memories, and learning life lessons.

This and that: Member of History Club … volunteer work includes youth football camps and Mites hockey program, Metal Drive for football program, Blood Drives and filling sandbags to help with recent flood relief … works at Ray Zobel & Son’s during the summer … participated in American Showcase hockey tournament in St. Louis last summer.

Hobbies: Boating, motorcycling, playing sports.

Post-high school plans: Attend college to earn a degree in Criminal Justice and hopefully play hockey.
