Clarkson part of Asian Games lineup revealed by Guiao

Head coach Yeng Guiao announced the final roster of the Philippine basketball team set to compete in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia on Friday.

Comprising the team are Rain or Shine players Chris Tiu, Gabe Norwood, Maverick Ahanmisi, James Yap, Beau Belga and Raymond Almazan, Magnolia's Paul Lee, San Miguel's Christian Standhardinger, Blackwater's JP Erram, NorthPort's Stanley Pringle and NLEX's Asi Taulava.

Filipino-American Jordan Clarkson, who plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA, is also part of the 12-man lineup.

However, as of posting, ESPN5 is still trying to get information if Clarkson has received clearance from the NBA and if the Asian Games organizing committee has deemed him eligible to play.

"We put Jordan there since we want to make sure there's a slot for him," Guiao explained to reporters after their practice. "We're still working on the requirements, procedures and the permits. SBP [Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas] officials and other concerned people are working hard to try and get him to play for the team."

TNT's Don Trollano and Gilas cadets Ricci Rivero and Kobe Paras failed to make the cut.

The national squad, which will leave for Indonesia on Sunday, will compete in Group D against China and Kazakhstan. The Philippines plays Kazakhstan on August 16 at 11 a.m. Manila time before facing China on August 21 at 5 p.m.
