'We're going to win' - Dangerfield licks his lips ahead of Crows clash

Geelong star Patrick Dangerfield says he is no certainty to start at full forward in the preliminary final against his former club Adelaide.

Dangerfield's move to start at deep full forward in Friday night's win over Sydney was one of the coaching moves on the season.

He had played a similar role back in Round 17 against Hawthorn and kicked 5.6 in a match-winning performance. But that move was forced due to Dangerfield being restricted by bone bruising in his ankle early in the match.

Dangerfield was fully fit against the Swans and proved a nightmare for their defence coming out of the goalsquare. He kicked 4.3 from eight shots at goal in the first half and helped set up a decisive 36-point lead at half-time.

But Dangerfield said he was no guarantee to start there against the Crows.

"I think it will be horses for courses really," Dangerfield said after the win.

"I think it will be a mixture of both depending on how we're going."

The AFL could not have scripted a better preliminary final if it had been dreamt it in a brand meeting.

One of the competition's biggest names in Dangerfield returning to face his old club in enemy territory for a place in the grand final.

Dangerfield had a glint in his eye when asked about facing his former club.

"Can't wait, bring it on," Dangerfield said.

"I don't know if there's extra spice. It doesn't matter who our opponent is. We're going to win. We've got two games to go."

Geelong's theme of this finals series is to simply win three games. The Cats are 1-1. Geelong captain Joel Selwood said it would be critical to start quickly away from home at Adelaide Oval after a poor first term in the Round 18 loss to the Crows.

"We didn't start well," Selwood said.

"Tonight we started better than what we have recently. Hopefully we do a similar thing and start well and give ourselves a chance throughout the game."

The Cats gave up five goals to one in the opening term in that game to trail by 22 points at quarter-time. They went on to lose by 21.

Selwood was also confident he would continue to build his own form after admitting he had struggled a bit coming back off injury.

"I'm probably a little bit off at the moment but I'm confident that I've still got some good footy infront on me," he said.

"A little bit of touch, I'm probably a little bit slow around the ball after spending a month out," Selwood said.

"But I'm pretty confident that I'll be OK."
