Crows hope to keep Jake Lever and Mitch McGovern

Adelaide hopes the prospect of premiership success will be enough to hold onto young guns Jake Lever and Mitch McGovern.

The out-of-contract duo is yet to re-sign as they enjoy breakout years that has seen their open market value soar.

Lever has been linked to a number of Melbourne clubs, including the Demons, while McGovern is being tempted to return to his home state, with West Coast and Fremantle vying for his signature.

Rookie Crows forward Hugh Greenwood says the potential to be a part of the next football dynasty could entice the youngsters to re-commit.

"It's no secret we want them to stay, but at the end of the day, it's their careers, their decisions," Greenwood told ESPN.

"We can only offer them so much. We're going to be a successful club for years to come.

"One being a Melbourne boy, the other from Perth, so there's a bit of pull I suppose. It's a decision they need to make on their own. We're doing all we can, but at the end of the day, it's up to them.

"Scott Thompson in his retirement speech spoke about how he never won a premiership in his long career and a good side is really hard to come by. Maybe given they [McGovern and Lever] are so young, they mightn't appreciate it yet.

"The team that we have, and the culture we have, puts us in a really good position in the next couple of years to be successful."
