Collingwood's Brodie Grundy can accept a two-match AFL ban for the tackle that left North Melbourne forward Ben Brown with concussion.

Brown was stretchered from Etihad Stadium and taken to hospital after he was knocked out in the tackle laid during the second quarter of the Pies' 54-point win on Saturday night.

Pies coach Nathan Buckley labelled it "a perfect tackle" but the match review panel assessed it as careless conduct with high impact to the head. The remorseful ruckman risks a three-game suspension if he takes his case to the tribunal and fails.

The incident occurred a week after Geelong superstar Patrick Dangerfield was controversially banned for one game for a tackle that concussed Carlton's Matthew Kreuzer.

Grundy was one of five players offered suspensions by the MRP following its assessment of round 20 action.

Star Cats forward Tom Hawkins can accept a two-match ban for striking Sydney's Dane Rampe. Hawkins served a one-match suspension for a jumper punch on Adelaide's Matt Crouch earlier this season and will serve an extra game for the same offence if he accepts the MRP's finding due to a bad record. He also risks a three-match suspension with an unsuccessful visit to the tribunal.

In further bad news for Geelong, who will be without injured skipper Joel Selwood for the rest of the home-and-away season, midfielder Mitch Duncan was offered a one-game suspension for striking Swan forward Tom Papley. Duncan's indiscretion saw Papley awarded a free kick in front of goal at a critical time in the last quarter of the Cats' loss to Sydney at Simonds Stadium.

Hawthorn star Luke Hodge was also banned last week for striking Papley, who has drawn criticism for going to ground too easily.

Duncan risks a two-game ban if he chooses to fight the charge at the tribunal. The duo will miss Saturday's important game against Richmond if they accept their penalties.

Greater Western Sydney ruckman Shane Mumford was offered a one-match suspension for rough conduct on Melbourne counterpart Max Gawn and Essendon's Zach Merrett can accept a one-game ban with an early plea for striking Carlton's Lachie Plowman. Both players risk two-match suspensions if they unsuccessfully fight their charges at the tribunal.

Adelaide's Josh Jenkins and Port Adelaide's Jackson Trengove were fined for wrestling each other in the first quarter of the Crows' 84-point win.

Bombers spearhead Joe Daniher, who currently leads the race for the Coleman Medal, can accept a fine for striking Blues midfielder Blaine Boekhorst.

North midfielder Ben Cunnington was cleared of any wrongdoing in an incident that led to Magpies defender Tyson Goldsack leaving the field to have his jaw assessed by medical staff.

St Kilda's Luke Dunstan had his match day report for tripping West Coast's Jack Redden thrown out.
