Munich or Saint Petersburg to host 2021 Champions League final

The 2021 Champions League final will be played in either Munich or Saint Petersburg after UEFA received declarations of interest from the two cities.

Munich's Allianz Arena, which hosted the 2012 final between Bayern Munich and Chelsea, has been submitted as the German city's designated venue.

The Krestovsky Stadium -- the venue for the World Cup semifinal between Belgium and France -- has been put forward by Saint Petersburg, which is aiming to host the Champions League final for the first time.

The Krestovsky, with a capacity of 67,000, was the most expensive stadium ever built when it was completed at a cost of $1.1 billion last year.

Next year's final will take place at Atletico Madrid 's Wanda Metropolitano and the 2020 final in Istanbul's Ataturk Stadium.

A decision on the 2021 match will be made next May or June following inspection of the bid dossiers, which must be submitted by Feb. 15.

Vienna, Tbilisi and Seville have lodged bids to host the 2021 Europa League final.

However, the Seville authorities have yet to inform UEFA whether they propose to host the game at the Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan or the larger Estadio Benito Villamarin.

The Dinamo Stadium in Minsk, Belfast's Windsor Park, Helsinki's Olympic Stadium and Kharkiv's Metalist Stadium are bidding to stage the 2021 UEFA Super Cup.
