Match Commentary

81'+322-23 End of second half
80'Frustration for Scotland, relief for the Wallabies as the visitors survive the last ten minutes with fourteen men to scrape the win. Skelton's yellow card should have been the turning point, but well as they played Scotland are yet to acquire the winning habit. Finn Russell and John Barclay were outstanding for the hosts, while Huw Jones looks a find after two tries on debut. For Australia David Pocock as usual was infuential at key moments, and Tevita Kuridrani's try was pivotal.
80'Scotland into the Wallaby half, needing to maintain possession and take any possible scoring opportunity, unfortunately for them David Pocock pops up at exactly the wrong time - you know the result.
77'22-23 Conversion - Bernard Foley , Australia
76'Australia, with a man in the bin, grab the lead with five minutes to play as Tevita Kuridrani evades Peter Horne's grasp to go in under the posts. Horne was up too quickly in defence and got shown up there... Foley slots the kick and the Wallabies lead by one.
75'22-21 Try - Tevita Kuridrani , Australia
73'Substitute on - Tom Robertson , Australia
73'Player substituted - Scott Sio , Australia
72'Australia on the attack on halfway, but Hodge gets stripped of the ball then Stuart Hogg switches play to the left, where Tim Visser streaks away before inadvertently putting a foot in touch - no excuse for that I'm afraid.
70'Player substituted - Alex Dunbar , Scotland
70'Substitute on - Pete Horne , Scotland
69'Wallaby line-out sets up assault on the Scottish line, but the hosts disrupt their ball illegally and concede the penalty. Ref's attention is subsequently called to an off the ball shoulder charge by gigantic Wallaby lock Will Skelton - outcome is that he gets ten in the bin and his team get zero points for their attacking efforts.
69'Yellow card - Will Skelton , Australia
68'Substitute on - Nick Phipps , Australia
68'Player substituted - Will Genia , Australia
68'Substitute on - Moray Low , Scotland
68'Player substituted - Zander Fagerson , Scotland
67'Now it's the Australia attack that breaks down at the last moment, as they string together phases in the Scottish 22. Again though they force the final ball, and it's this lack of composure that may prove decisive.
65'Scotland attack down the left hand touch-line, chip through results in Australia line-out which is stolen by the hosts. They get penalised though and the Wallabies escape punishment.
62'Nasty knee injury for John Hardie sees him exit the game, and both sets of players get a breather. Which team will keep their heads and execute in the last fifteen?
62'Player substituted - Lopeti Timani , Australia
62'Substitute on - Will Skelton , Australia
62'Substitute on - Allan Alaalatoa , Australia
62'Player substituted - Sekope Kepu , Australia
62'Substitute on - Grant Gilchrist , Scotland
62'Player substituted - John Hardie , Scotland
56'Substitute on - Fraser Brown , Scotland
56'Player substituted - Ross Ford , Scotland
56'22-16 Penalty goal - Bernard Foley , Australia
55'The Wallabies are undeniably on top in the scrums this afternoon, and they get themselves another three-pointer as a result from the boot of Foley. The margin is now six points and we are headed for a tight last twenty.
52'Substitute on - Gordon Reid , Scotland
52'Player substituted - Allan Dell , Scotland
51'Australia on the attack, great hands take them over the halfway line before move breaks down with a wild Folau speculator that finds a Scotsman instead of an Aussie.
49'Substitute on - Dean Mumm , Australia
49'Player substituted - Rory Arnold , Australia
48'Finn Russell pulling the strings impressively at the start of the second period, varying play nicely as the hosts move up the pitch. They are rewarded with a scrum out in front of the Wallabies posts, which holds up OK, then Stuart Hogg streaks off the back toward the corner flag before the ball finds its way inside for Richie Gray, who goes over for another quality Scottish try.
48'22-13 Try - Jonny Gray , Scotland
42'17-13 Penalty goal - Bernard Foley , Australia

40'17-10 Start of second half
39'John Barclay is having a belter of a game, he jumps out of the defensive line to scrag possession for Scotland, only for Russell to opt to kick away possession when a three-on- two presents itself.
35'Scotland keeping the ball well as half time approaches, playing with good composure as they make steady progress up the field with Fagerson and Sean Maitland. Gets knocked on though and Australia exit their 22.
28'Jones in for his second try of the afternoon after excellent continuity work from Scotland. The momentum looked to have gone after Tim Visser's break down the left hand side fizzled out, but the home pack consolidated and delivered decent ball for Jones to again show his attacking threat. Excellent try.
28'17-10 Conversion - Greig Laidlaw , Scotland
27'15-10 Try - Huw Jones , Scotland
23'10-10 Penalty goal - Bernard Foley , Australia
22'Wallaby scrum extracts another penalty as Scotland tight-head Zander Fagerson hits the deck. Bernard Foley slots the kick to bring the scores level.
20'Scotland escape the shipment of another try, as Will Genia's final ball is intercepted after sublime handling by Israel Folau carves open the Scottish midfield. The visitors getting the upper hand now.
19'Player substituted - Grant Gilchrist , Scotland
19'Substitute on - Richie Gray , Scotland
16'Australia starting to rumble now. Dominant Wallaby scrum forces a turn-over on halfway, and Tevita Kuridrani shows his power with a bust up the middle of the park. Gets turned over though and opportunity is lost.
15'10-7 Conversion - Bernard Foley , Australia
14'Try from first phase for the Wallabies. Reece Hodge goes over after slick handling off the back of a line-out on the 10 yard line, but Scotland will be disappointed at how easy that was.
13'10-5 Try - Reece Hodge , Australia
13'Player substituted - Richie Gray , Scotland
13'Substitute on - Grant Gilchrist , Scotland
12'Richie Gray coming off for a concussion test
9'Excellent Scottish try, created by Finn Russell and finished by Huw Jones. Russell playing on the gain line times his chip in behind perfectly, Jones regathers and speeds away to dot down under the posts. Australia need to wake up before things get away from them.
9'10-0 Conversion - Greig Laidlaw , Scotland
8'8-0 Try - Huw Jones , Scotland
5'Scotland escape in the 4th minute, as Sekope Kepu knocks on with the line in sight after Australia bang away at the hosts' line.
5'Player substituted - Ryan Wilson , Scotland
5'Substitute on - John Hardie , Scotland
5'Substitute on - Rob Simmons , Australia
5'Player substituted - Adam Coleman , Australia
3'3-0 Penalty goal - Greig Laidlaw , Scotland
1'Perfect conditions for a decent game of rugby this afternoon, and Scotland string together some impressive phases early after an Alex Dunbar break takes them into the Australia 22. The pressure is rewarded with a penalty out in front, which Greig Laidlaw knocks over. 3-0.
1'Welcome to a dry Murrayfield for Scotland against Australia, and what is Scottish hooker Ross Ford's 100th international.
1'0-0 Start of first half
