Tottenham's Son loves London apart from the food, has many best friends

South Korea winger Son Heung-Min says that he prefers London to Leverkusen, and has made lots of friends since joining Tottenham Hotspur in August last year.

The only downside, he concedes, is finding good food in the English capital.

Speaking to the-afc.com ahead of South Korea's 2018 AFC World Cup qualifier against Qatar in Suwon on Thursday, Son added that he felt London was the best place to develop his football.

"I think London is the best city in the world," he said. "Leverkusen is a small city, and they have Bayer, one big factory.

"I think for my family, and for my life, it's better, London. And, also [for] football, I am very comfortable to stay there, in London. Just the food is a bit difficult."

After a mixed opening season following his move from Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen, Son has been in scintillating form for Spurs. They are second on the Premier League table after a 2-0 victory over leaders Manchester City at White Hart Lane last Sunday.

In September, he scored doubles against Stoke City and Middlesbrough, as well as the only goal of the UEFA Champions League game away to CSKA Moscow on Sept. 28.

Son added that he is forming strong friendships with his Spurs' teammates.

"Who's my best friend? Many players are my best friend," he said.

"There's an Austrian guy, [centre-back] Kevin Wimmer, Delle Ali, Eric Dier, Victor Wanyama, There's so many good players, and good friends to me."

After missing Korea's last Group B qualifier against Syria on Sept. 6, Son will be a key figure for the Taeguk Warriors against 2022 hosts Qatar before travelling with the squad to face Iran in Tehran on Oct. 11.
