Moment of the Day - Musa's opener sets Nigeria on its way against Iceland

Argentina fans were left celebrating on Friday night, and not because of the efforts of their own players but because Nigeria beat Iceland 2-0 to keep their own, and Argentine, hopes alive.

A win for Iceland would have all but jettisoned the South Americans from the tournament, but Ahmed Musa, he of two goals against Messi and co. at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, banged in a brace, both in the top right corner, to secure the win for the Super Eagles.

His pivotal first goal was an absolute delight, especially after a lacklustre display in the first half by the men in bright green. The half-time talk from coach Gernot Rohr must have been bracing indeed, as Musa looked a new player after the break.

The Leicester City man's big moment came in the 49th minute, when Victor Moses lobbed the ball into the box as Musa ran ahead. He brought it down neatly over his shoulder with a precise touch, and sent the half volley crashing past goalkeeper Hannes Halldorsson into the roof of the net.

Musa didn't slow down, rattling the crossbar a few moments later, before adding a second in the 75th minute which makes him the first Nigerian to score braces in two World Cups.

Russian air seems to agree with the 25-year-old as he was on loan at CSKA Moscow at the end of last season, scoring six goals in 10 appearances. Foxes fans will be pleased to have him back come August.
