Bayern Munich have identified top summer targets - Rummenigge

Bayern Munich have identified their summer targets and are preparing to strike in the transfer market, according to CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

Bayern celebrated their fifth consecutive Bundesliga title at the weekend and Rummenigge indicated the Bavarians were ready to do business in the coming weeks.

"We have personnel decisions to make. The transfer activity starts now," he said in an interview on the club's website. "We've already discussed the transfer policy with Carlo [Ancelotti] and the board and decided on targets."

Without revealing any specific names, Rummenigge hinted more signings are on the way at the record German champions, while Bayern president Uli Hoeness told Bayerische Rundfunk during the title celebrations: "if we want to strengthen our squad, we must buy the very best."

In addition, it was reported earlier this week that Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez was their main summer target, with the club asking midfielder Arturo Vidal to vouch for his international teammate's quality.

Sanchez, 28, has one year left on his current Arsenal contract and has not yet agreed an extension.

According to reports in Chile, Sanchez's agent Fernando Felicevich travelled to Munich to celebrate Vidal's 30th birthday on Monday and sound out the possibility of his client joining Bayern for a reported €58 million fee and €13m annual salary.

Bayern have already added Hoffenheim duo Niklas Sule and Sebastian Rudy to their squad for the coming season.

Rummenigge said: "Sule has come on really well in the last six months and is a player who'll make a positive contribution for us in the future, while Rudy is one of the players who guaranteed Hoffenheim's qualification for the Champions League."
