Dominic Solanke not a 'realistic' target for Swansea - Paul Clement

Paul Clement has put strikers top of Swansea's January wish list, but insists Liverpool forward Dominic Solanke is not one of them.

Swansea's goal drought continued at Chelsea on Wednesday night as a 1-0 defeat saw them fail to score for the fourth successive game.

The Welsh club have had only 24 on-target attempts in 14 Premier League games this season -- 12 lower than the next team Huddersfield.

It has led to speculation that Swansea are set to make a transfer-window loan move for former Chelsea striker Solanke, who Clement knows well from his time on the coaching staff at Stamford Bridge.

But Clement said that Solanke -- who made his first league start for Liverpool in Wednesday's 3-0 win at Stoke -- is not on their list of January targets.

"[Solanke] is a really good player but I can't see that Liverpool would want to let him go,'' Clement said of the 20-year-old who made his England debut against Brazil earlier this month.

"He is not a name we have highlighted because we see him as a player that's doing really well at his own club.

"But when you see our goal-scoring record and our ability to create chances we have to strengthen in forward positions.

"How many players that will be it is difficult to say, but one or two players in the forward positions would be a big help for us.

"We are trying to identify them but it has to be players who are realistic targets to bring here."

Swansea have had over seven hours of football -- 428 minutes to be precise -- since Sam Clucas scored their last goal in a 2-1 defeat at Arsenal on Oct. 28.

They are the lowest scores in all four divisions of English football with just eight goals.

"It is the first time I have experienced this," Clement said. "It is very frustrating but I remain positive.

"I understand the nature of football and that you can get into these situations, but you can also get out of them just as quickly.

"As a team, we are defending at a pretty good level. Our defending away from home is only behind Chelsea and Manchester City in goals conceded.

"We are an organised side who know our jobs defensively. But what we have found difficult to do is create a decent amount of chances."

At least Clement will be able to recall top scorer Tammy Abraham, who was ineligible to play against his parent club Chelsea, and partner him with Wilfried Bony.

The pair have only played 45 minutes together this season because of the Ivorian's fitness problems.

"You cannot judge that partnership on 45 minutes, so it is something I need to consider,'' Clement said. "When you are not creating, you have to think about getting attacking players on the pitch."
