Marouane Fellaini 'close' to move to Galatasaray, says sporting director

Galatasaray are "close" to a deal to acquire Marouane Fellaini from Manchester United, says the Turkish club's sporting director.

The 29-year-old is entering the final year of his contract at Old Trafford, and his place for the upcoming season is in doubt while Jose Mourinho continues to pursue another midfield signing.

And according to Gala director Cenk Ergun, he could find a new home in Turkey.

"Fellaini will leave Manchester United and he is now in our radar," Ergun was quoted as saying by Ajansspor. "There will be surprises, we are in talks with Fellaini.

"We have made an approach, we are close and if we get Fellaini we will end our pursuit of [Villarreal's Alfred] N'Diaye.

"We need a player like Fellaini who can move around in midfield."

Sources told ESPN FC in April that Mourinho wanted to sign Fellaini to another extension, after he only signed on for the 2017-18 season in January.

Fellaini joined United from Everton for £27.5 million in 2013, and has 15 goals in all competitions, though he scored just once in each of the past two Premier League seasons.
