Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare has confirmed Roma have had an offer for Riyad Mahrez rejected because it under the club's valuation of the player.
Shakespeare said earlier in the week that there had been no offers received for the 26-year-old but he corrected that statement.
"I think I was quoted on the last press day that there was no bids," Shakespeare said in an interview with Sky Sports. "There was a bid from Roma I was told afterwards, so I would like to put the record straight on that one.
"It was politely declined on the basis that it was a low offer. Of what that offer is, don't ask me how much because I don't know and I don't get involved in that."
Andy King says Leicester's players have let Mahrez know they will not accept a decrease in effort from the winger after he made public his desire to leave.
"Riyad is aware as anyone that if no one comes in, then he is a Leicester City player," King said, in quotes reported by the Leicester Mercury. "The boys have been saying that to him.
"We are a tight-knit group and we work hard. A lot of us have been together now for a long period of time and we are not going to let anyone down tools and think that is all right. He knows the way we work and if he isn't going to put it in for the team, then he will get dug out for that.
"But it is full credit to him, everyone can see he is an outstanding player and he showed that again with a number of great chances created, and he scored."
King, a 28-year-old midfielder, came through Leicester's academy and is now their longest-serving player having helped the club climb from League One to win the Premier League title.
But he couldn't admit to understanding Mahrez's motives in wanting to leave.
"I wouldn't say there is a degree of understanding," King said. "It is hard for me to say that and it wouldn't go down well. I would never say things like that.
"But for him, he is ambitious and he wants to play at the highest level. If he sees himself in the Champions League, then so be it.
"But he has to wait for the bids to come in, and if they don't, then he has to understand he is a Leicester player. You can see he is working hard to try to do that."
Meanwhile, Harvey Barnes, who made his debut in a Champions League game against Porto last season, has signed a new four-year deal.

Barnes, 19, was part of England's victorious Toulon Tournament squad this summer and impressed while on loan at MK Dons last term.
Shakespeare said: "Harvey's a really exciting young player and it's been a real pleasure to watch him develop, particularly during the last year where he's been regularly involved in the first-team set-up.
"The way he took to his loan spell at MK Dons -- his first experience of league football -- speaks volumes both for his quality as a player and his maturity as a young man.
"He's a bright, gifted boy with a terrific attitude and a big future. We're delighted that future is with Leicester."
