Sundowns' interest in loan for Mahlambi confirmed

Mamelodi Sundowns are interested in the loan signing of Al Ahly and Bafana Bafana winger Phakamani Mahlambi.

The 20-year-old has been the subject of some media speculation in recent weeks, with Sundowns named as potential suitors.

A source has told KweséESPN that this is the case, but that the players' representatives have yet to speak to Al Ahly about their plans for the player in the coming campaign.

The Egyptian giants recently appointed French coach Patrice Carteron, who is still running his eye over his squad and deciding his preferred players for next season.

Mahlambi's representatives are set to meet with the club in the next week to discuss the player's future, and Sundowns are ready to pounce with a loan capture if he is allowed to leave Cairo.

KweséESPN has been told that Sundowns are likely the only South African Premier Soccer League side who could afford Mahlambi's wages.

The youngster joined Ahly from Bidvest Wits at the start of last season and made 15 appearances in all competitions, including the CAF Champions League, scoring a single goal.

Sundowns are looking for South African options to bolster their attack as they have filled their foreign quota.

They are also reportedly trying to sign former Bafana Bafana striker Tokelo Rantie.
