Beppe Marotta: Italian FA presidency a dream but I'm not finished with Juventus

Juventus' general manager Beppe Marotta says it would be "a dream" to become the president of the Italian Football Association (FIGC), but that now is not the right time to think about it.

The FIGC is currently being run by the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) after elections for a new president to succeed Carlo Tavecchio, who stepped down after Italy's failure to qualify for the World Cup.

Marotta's name has been linked with the role and he told Mediaset that he is honoured to be considered as a suitable president, but he feels he still has a job to do in Turin.

"I feel that I have not yet concluded my experience at Juve, but for a director who has worked in football for 40 years, I feel it would be the crowning of a dream," Marotta said. "But it's something to talk about in the future.

"At the moment, I am at Juve and I enjoy the faith of the president and with [vice-president Pavel] Nedved and [sporting director Fabio] Paratici, we have formed a great group. The Italian FA is a dream which can be realised in future."

Marotta joined Juve from Sampdoria in 2010, having overseen the Blucerchiati's successful qualification for the Champions League with Antonio Cassano and Giampaolo Pazzini leading their attack.

Although success proved elusive in his first season in Turin, Juve have won the Serie A title in each of the six seasons since and are currently four points clear at the top and on course for a seventh straight Scudetto.
