Lyon have come out in support of coach Bruno Genesio following the release of a video that allegedly shows him involved in a verbal abuse incident.
Various French outlets shared footage on Monday of a man reported to be the 52-year-old OL boss chasing a youngster and yelling an obscenity after that person allegedly shouted at Genesio's daughter on Saturday.
The club released a statement on Tuesday in support of Genesio, stating it did not want to "comment earlier in order to temper the buzz that some have tried to create."
"Since [Monday], Olympique Lyonnais have supported coach Bruno Genesio and his family with regards to an incident that occurred on Saturday, which has been condemned with the utmost firmness," the statement said.
OL president Jean-Michel Aulas has also backed his coach, taking to Twitter to echo the sentiments of the official statement.
"Sometimes, you have to know how to watch and listen before intervening," Aulas wrote. "Thanks to the many testimonies of support and gratitude towards Bruno, he retains thoroughly deserved legitimacy."
The National Union of Professional Footballers (UNFP) has also come out in support of Genesio, calling the incident "scandalous, inadmissible!"
"While supporter abuse multiplies, including away from the stadiums, the UNFP supports players and coaches, like Bruno Genesio of Lyon, who is regularly provoked, insulted and threatened," the UNFP stated. "Intolerable!"
Genesio is under a some early pressure at Groupama Stadium after two wins and two defeats in the first four matches of the Ligue 1 season, which leave Lyon eighth in Le Championnat heading into the international break.
Les Gones, seven-time consecutive French champions between 2002-08, have been drawn alongside Manchester City, Shakhtar Donetsk and Hoffenheim in this campaign's Champions League group stage.
