Luke Shaw and Jose Mourinho's complicated history at Man United

How things can change. It was only a two months ago that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho said: "I don't see many left-backs better than this Luke Shaw."

Now, after hauling Shaw off at half-time of the club's win over Brighton in the FA Cup this weekend, Mourinho went back on the offensive.

"I had to change one of them [his full-backs] and I chose Luke because at least Antonio [Valencia] defensively was capable of some good positionings," he said. "Luke in the first half every time they went in his corridor, the cross was coming and a dangerous situation was coming. So I was not happy with the performance."

Mourinho and Shaw have had an interesting history, as you can see below.

But is there a future at the club for Shaw now? Mourinho seems to make him a public scapegoat each time and sources have told ESPN FC that the defender is one of a host of players who may move on this summer in an overhaul at Man United.

Patience from both manager and player may have run out.
